Help! Wedding outfit to hide varicose veins

I'm going to a wedding in September, it's going to be the first time I've been out for drinks in the evening for over a year since having DS 4 months ago. So very excited (and also a bit nervous on leaving DS for a whole day for the first time)! ... Anyway I have hideous varicose veins on one leg from the knee to the ankle so am looking for some wedding outfit ideas. I don't really want to wear trousers and at 5'3 and a curvy size 12 I don't generally suit long dresses. So I'm thinking dresses that could be worn with black tights or leggings? What shoes would go with that?? Any ideas would be much appreciated! Oh and I'm 31.

I really wouldn't do black tights in September - they would need to be opaque to hide the veins . And leggings with anything is a very casual look

I think you need to reconsider trousers , if you are sure you don't suit a maxi dress or long skirt . 5'3" isn't that small, especially if you can do heels

I reckon black opaques will be doable in September, no?

I bloody hope so Grin

No tethersend , the fashion police will arrest you if you wear thick black opaques before October

Unless you are 14 years old and wearing them with denim shorts and a sulky face

What about an ankle length skirt?

trikken · 20/07/2014 21:04

Oops I would.

Kristina, in my book, opaques are ok from the first day of term... This year it's September the 1st. They are ON Grin

What about a dress with no tights but a cracking pair of boots? Would that work, OP?

Lemontopping · 20/07/2014 21:26

Thanks for the comments. I usually live in boots tethersend but I wasn't sure if that would work for a wedding? Maybe I'll have to consider long dresses? Any recommendations for ones that would suit a short-arse? The only time I have worn a long dress is my wedding!

I was thinking of something like this with a pair of boots like this...
