Curly girl confusion

I am new to curly girl - need some help for my daughter who has long corkscrews. I got confused on the website with the long list of things in products that should be avoided. Could anyone of you lovelies summarise it for me? Are you not meant to use shampoo? What products would you recommend?

Rather than try and interpret the list, I just picked a few recommended products and used them.

I use the body shop rainforest conditioner and about once a month I use the shampoo. I also use boots curl cream.

Going to check it out as I have curly girls

don't use the website really - but we did pick bits and pieces from it, and DD has a book that's similar.

one thing that has definitely made a difference for both of us (i have curly-ish hair that ringlets when long, DD is mixed-race with fairly afro hair) is using SLS-free shampoo.
