I'm thinking about using this on my bump. The packaging says to check with a doctor if using during pregnancy... Can't help thinking that would be a massive waste of NHS time. Is there anything risky in it baby wise?

Check if it has any essential oils in. If not it should be fine.

Kundry · 18/07/2014 22:27

Even if it has essential oils in, I can only imagine a doctor being baffled at the question. There are no lectures on essential oils at medical school. Because they just smell nice Smile

Essential oils can irritate your skin. If they do, stop using it. The end.

These are the ingredients:

Helianthus annuus (Sunflower) seed oil, Rosa canina fruit oil, Tocopherol, Simmondsia chinensis (Jojoba) seed oil, Calendula officinalis flower extract, Rosa damascena flower oil, Citronellol, Geraniol. Suitable for vegetarians and vegans

I've been told before that lavender oil is dodgy on pregnancy but there's nothing in this that rings any bells...

Suspect this is just back covering by the manufacturers as it a) makes it sound more potent than it really is and b) means they don't have to do expensive product testing on pregnant women.

A win-win for them, as you said a massive waste of time for GPs.

I used sweet almond oil on my bump twice a day and didn't get a single stretch mark. I was very pleased as I have them in other places so am obviously prone to them

Attitude, funnily enough I bought a bottle of the vit e oil and a bottle of sweet almond oil. Decided to use the almond in the am and vit e in the pm.

I have some silvery stretch marks on my hips from puberty so hopefully this will stop them in their tracks!
