Can you help me find a sticky outy wedding dress like this but cheaper?

it's this one: dress

It's for a casual wedding (just us and two witnesses, then going off to a festival so it will be teamed with wellies later the same day).

What I like about this style:

  1. It suits my big ole ass Grin
  2. I don't want my decolletage on show - sun damaged skin I'm not fond of.
  3. Sleeves as there's a good chance it will be cold.

But I was hoping to spend up to about £150 on something off the peg.

Can anyone help?!

This one on etsy is cute. Doesn't have long sleeves though. I'm finding it hard to find long sleevesand higher neck and knew length in your budget

Gilraen · 16/07/2014 16:13

This is lovely too, slightly different short shape but might still work for you?www.etsy.com/uk/listing/192191812/knee-length-wedding-dresslace-wedding?

To be honest I'm not sure how much warmth lace sleeves will provide! If it helps I got married in winter (in snow) in a strapless dress and in the excitement I didn't feel the cold at all, unless you're spending a lot of time outside?

trufflesnout · 16/07/2014 16:14

This with an underskirt?

Lace is in fashion, but they usually come with sleeves or a swishy skirt, finding it hard to come across one which has both + the neckline.

But there's my first offering Grin

WowserBowser · 16/07/2014 16:15

That Etsy one is lovely

FoxSticks · 16/07/2014 16:17

The first one Gilraen posted is beautiful. You would have money left for a shrug too if you were worried about it being too cold.

cheeseandpineapple · 16/07/2014 16:18

OP, the dress you've linked to is gorgeous, is there any way you can increase your budget eg sell some stuff, it's really lovely, haven't seen one like that before, worth the extra if there's anyway you could extend your budget a bit...

momb · 16/07/2014 16:25

Honeypie boutique: pick the dress you want then overlay your sleeves.
Here:

It will come in slightly overbudget but about the clsest i can find.

This is lovely - as long as you aren't too set on white / cream? Would look great with an underskirt.

SocialButterfly · 16/07/2014 17:24

This ones lovely here

SocialButterfly · 16/07/2014 17:35

SocialButterfly · 16/07/2014 17:37

I'm on a roll! here

SorrelForbes · 16/07/2014 17:40

How about this? I have it in black and it's very, very flattering.

SocialButterfly · 16/07/2014 17:42

here?

no sleeves?

hollyisalovelyname · 16/07/2014 17:45

Stickyout Why don't you contact the original maker of the dress and ask could it be made in a cheaper fabric or something. They do state they customise so they might be able to do something for you.

StickyOutyDress · 16/07/2014 18:22

Wow, thanks guys, this is brilliant! Thanks

I'll have a mooch once the baby is in bed.

Have a look at Vivienne of Holloway.

BikeRunSki · 16/07/2014 18:41

Vivienne of Holloway several others on website.

StickyOutyDress · 16/07/2014 21:29

Gilraen that first one is indeed lovely, and a great price! I'm a bit wary of ordering from China with no returns (I assume). Anyone done this? I take your point about lace sleeves not providing warmth though, maybe I'll need a bolero or something anyway.

I'm trying to steer clear of that sweetheart neck line (even with a lace covering)

farmyard the Amelia is worth considering, thank you.

momb I only have until the end of august, so I won't be able to have one made to order - it says 8-12 weeks I think? But I do like the Audrey style.

Stickyout

If you like the amelia also have a look at the rose also from BHS www.bhs.co.uk/en/bhuk/product/wedding-1020484/wedding-sale-3133698/bridal-3122224/rose-short-bridal-dress-2522927?bi=1&ps=20

you could make it sticky out with tutu material as suggested above.

StickyOutyDress · 16/07/2014 21:39

That Alice Temperley one would have worked for me if it was white - I would look very unwell in oyster though.

SocialButterfly loads of dresses, thanks! I like the skirt on the angel dress. Worth considering.

BikeRunSki I have a couple of VoH dresses so I know how they fit and that would be a bonus. I might have a look at the Ophelia, I wonder if my boobs would disappear though? (C cup).

I have also asked the original dress maker for some details of the dress as some of you suggested.

Thank you all very much for your help, my googling wasn't getting me far!

StickyOutyDress · 16/07/2014 21:58

OP posts:
StickyOutyDress · 16/07/2014 21:59
