Calling all hairdressers - Thinking of cutting my hair short!

burstingbug · 12/09/2006 12:36

I have fine straight hair which is past my shoulders almost to mid back. I'm thinking about having it cut short due to my 2 ds's 18.5 mths and 3wks constantly swinging off of it. I have no idea on how I want it. Any ideas for styles greatly recieved. Obviously I'll need a quick, easy to manage style.
TIA

What about something like This? or This?

Do you have/want a fringe?

burstingbug · 12/09/2006 13:07

I don't have a fringe, no objection to having one. Both me & dh quite like the 1st style.

Be careful with the first one - it could easily look like a mullet imho

The second one is lovely though.

orangegiraffe · 12/09/2006 13:53

I am a hairdresser, imo I would opt for a layered textured bob, that way if you want to grow it again, it will be alot easier.

heavenis · 12/09/2006 13:55

I think the first one is nice, cut using a razor I would say.

PrettyCandles · 12/09/2006 14:04

May I hijack to ask a question, as I'm in a similar situation myself?

Would this style work with glasses? (And with slightly wavier hair, so probably more like the smaller 'Next Style' picture.)

Thomcat · 12/09/2006 14:06

ohhhh me too bursting bug. I need inspiration but I don't want layers as find it just goes fluffy and hate using loads of products in my hair.

southeastastra · 12/09/2006 14:06

those styles are nice but don't look wind resistant

trinityshiftingherleatheryarse · 12/09/2006 14:07

please be sure before yiou cut your hair that you aren't pg cause thats when I get the urge to cut my hair and regret it immensely

PrettyCandles · 12/09/2006 14:12

No style is wind-resistant! {grin] Not unless you yank it back into a pony or bun, or glue it down with products - or shave!

Furball · 12/09/2006 14:33

PrettyCandles - I wear glasses and that would annoy me. It's very heavy round the front.

what about something like This?

burstingbug · 12/09/2006 14:34

I hope i'm not prg! not had sex since conception of ds2!
So was the verdict 1st or 2nd pic or keep searching ?

burstingbug - what about This?

burstingbug · 12/09/2006 14:42

yup, quite like that one too, although dh just said 'its alright' in that bloke tone they use!

OP posts:
PrettyCandles · 12/09/2006 14:42

Mmm, that's a possible, too.

PrettyCandles · 12/09/2006 14:44

Crossed posts, I mean the one that Furball suggested for me. Do you want a fringe, burstingbug? I don't - I've had one for years and want to try something different. I've been growing it out now for neraly 9m.

burstingbug · 12/09/2006 14:47

I don't mind a fringe, been years since I had one, been over 10 years since my hair was short and in a bob eugh!

OP posts:
PrettyCandles · 12/09/2006 15:58

I'll probably end up with one eventually, cos my hair grows straight down at the front. But at least I shall try something different to the usual chop across the eyebrows.

Bob looked really good on me! But high-maintenance.

CountessDracula · 12/09/2006 16:01

Furball that one looks a bit newsreadery
