In search of the perfect breton top

Preferably scoop neck for BF purposes but could cope with the traditional neckline. I love the me&em one but it's sold out and at £48 it's a good job as I'd be tempted. H&M had a lovely cheap one but that's sold out too. Feel like I've looked everywhere but haven't found the right one yet!

Esprit quite often have a few, not too £££ and their cotton jersey seems to generally be good quality.

dexter73 · 14/07/2014 16:19

Nice one at Massimo Dutti that I have my eye on.

squoosh · 14/07/2014 16:22

Seasalt

I got this the other day and its great, as is the price.

Oly4 · 14/07/2014 18:12

Boden do loads, they are in the sale at the mo

Milmingebag · 14/07/2014 18:32

The only decent thing at Boden is the Breton tops. Size down though unless your norks need more room due to breast feeding.

I have the soft white/thin navy stripe- it has washed well after being worn at least once a week since the Spring.

Material wise it is lightweight without being sheer and keeps it's shape well throughout the day.

nomoreminibreaks · 14/07/2014 19:15

Had a look at boden and they don't seem to have any of the classic white/navy left, though I do like the white/green version!

Dammit went to buy the joules one and it is sold out!!!

MCSpammer · 15/07/2014 06:31

Muji

I bought one 5 years ago and it is still going strong!

plentyofshoes · 15/07/2014 09:46

Try French Connection. I have had two over the years and they are a classic fit and wash very well.
It is the only item I buy from there!

bettykt · 15/07/2014 10:17

Charles Tyrwhitt haven't purchased one though from there so can't say what they are like, I have the Boden ones.

Mrsgrumble · 15/07/2014 10:23

I have this one from next, you really have to size down. I am expecting and it's still big. It washes besutifully, hides all lumps and bumps. Haven't bough anything from next in years but was delighted. www.next.co.uk/g3986s7#897850g39

dotty2 · 15/07/2014 10:23

I have a Charles Tyrwhitt one and like it - the material's quite thick and not very stretchy though, so I'm not sure it's very good for Bf ing unless you size up.

ThisBitchIsResting · 15/07/2014 11:50

My perfect Breton is from Primark. I have it in grey/black and blue/white. Slash neck, 3/4 length sleeves, thick stretchy cotton, decent length in body. Washes well. £3.99. It's v similar to the Me and Em one IMO.

Oly4 · 15/07/2014 16:17

I have the white and green and orange boden ones and live them. Very bright though!!

Hairylegs47 · 15/07/2014 16:20

Mine is from Primark too!
Washes really well and feels lovely on.
I bought 6 in various colours Blush

mrsrhodgilbert · 15/07/2014 17:06

Ive just bought the red/cream one from here. Its quite thick but lovely.

EddieVeddersfoxymop · 15/07/2014 18:22

I have a lovely one from Phase 8. Fits my mega boobs but well fitting round the waist and hips. Washes well too.

Laquila · 15/07/2014 20:02

Zara uses to do lovely slash/boat-neck ones but I did find they eventually sgortened in the wash.

JL Weekend have got a nice square-necked one in at the moment.

ThisBitchIsResting · 15/07/2014 20:17

Just a further shout to check out the Primark ones. It irritates me when people think they have to spend £££ for a basic cotton item. The Primark ones are fantastic. If you want ethics shop elsewhere though

Bluestocking · 15/07/2014 20:32

The JL Weekend one is very nice. A colleague was wearing one today and looked great.
I like the Seasalt one - it's a good fit, not baggy, and long enough.

nomoreminibreaks · 15/07/2014 22:20

Looks like I need a trip to primark! Mrsgrumble I actually have that one from next but I've lost weight recently and it's huge! Also doesn't stretch for BF but it is lovely. Thanks all for the recommendations Smile
