took her to the hairdresser and she had to basically cut in a really big fringe to try and make it not look so bad. dd has really thick hair and it looks so weird (annoyingly, had nearly grown out her fringe!) any tips for what to do with short fringe while growing it out (othe than wearing it down!)

and how long will it take to grow out a bit...?!

cheers, Dinny

What about one of those thin hair bands to hold back or use with a fringe to make look pretty ? I know they sell lots in accessorise at the moment.

Also Hair slides (accessorise/claires accessories)to grip the fringe back.

Lastly use hair gel/mousse stuff to hold hair back.Might be a problem if very thick hair though!

When it gets to a resonable length then go to hairdresser who should be able to start blending in.

thanks, Incy - have just managed to grip it back with those mini butterfly clips, then bunches. hadn't thought of gel - thanks. thing is, it'll all have fallen out by the end of school... grrrr, she also had to have the sides much shorter than the back - it was so long and ringlet-y, I could cry.

Diiny my DD did the same a few weeks ago (just before she was going to be a bridesmaid!) She too had beautiful long blonde wavy hair! She appeared in the sitting room one night and asked me "what do you think?" She had cut one side of her hair short The hairdreser had to lop it all off to even it out. It's growing back now and actually I am beginning to prefer it shorter. She is growing her fringe out and I pin it back out of her eyes - she now looks very french, like the liitle girl on the petit filous adverts

oh, no, medullA! my dd's words were "Mummy, look wha I've found", brandishing two huge fistfuls of chopped-off hair!

can't believe your dd was about to be bridesmaid, lol!

They pick their moments don't they!! Just remember it does grow back but it's heartbreaking isn't it!? Girls eh?! Think of it as an expression of her individuality - or something like that
