Cobalt dress, silver accessories (i think) - what colour make up and nails?

Before I get flummoxed by the scary ladies at the cosmetic counters tomorrow, what type of make up and nail colour would you suggest? Bright? Fairly neutral? I don't usually wear much make up - foundation, concealer and a bit of cheek colour to stop me looking like death and that's about it. It's for a wedding where I'll be seen so I want to look nice but not over done, and its got to last all day (and night)

I'm a winter colouring if that will help with suggestions. Also which counters are likely to be most helpful. Will have John Lewis, boots and house ofFraser on offer tomorrow.

Thank you!

How about neutral eye makeup and a bright (not too light) pink lipstick. And nail polish to match the lipstick?

You could also do the bright pink lipstick and nails with a cat eye flick (and you don't need to use black eyeliner - you can use dark blue, purple, grey or brown if that's what you prefer).

I've not fully embraced my winter side, make up wise, but I think that I should be able to do a bright pink lip. Nails are ok (less scary) but then are you supposed to match fingers to toes? Or have them completely different colours?

All I want to do is hide away and blend into background and hope nobody notices me! I don't look the best and the words silk purse and sow' s ear spring to mind.

If you're not comfortable with lots of makeup etc, I'd go neutral, French nails, then you can either match toes or go bright. Go for blusher eyeliner and your usual lipstick or gloss. You will look classy and you will feel comfortable. Have a good time Grin

I have a cobalt dress which I wear with silver. Have you thought about coral/orangey shades?

You can match your finger nail colour to your toe nails or use different colours - it depends on what you like and what you prefer. I often wear different colours, but I also match the colours sometimes.

You could always wear the lipstick as a stain (basically patted on lightly, maybe with a bit of lip balm) - it's not as full-on as when it has been applied in the classic/normal way. Later, you could always add more if you feel comfortable doing so.

No matter what, I'm sure you'll look great! :)

I agree with advice you go low key, or a more groomed version of your normal look and let the colour if the dres make the statement. Subtle eyes and lips and classic ' natural' nails ( eg Essie ballerina ). I wouldn't personally match hand and toe nails. Looks a bit dated to me. Maybe something a bit bolder for toes ( I personally have a weakness for silver toenails but that's just me).

For makeup , Bobbi Brown are very good at this polished natural look so you could start with their counter . Also strongly recommend Space NK if you have one handy.

I am rubbish about make-up but good at nails Grin

I don't match my fingers and toes but it is personal preference. With a cobalt dress and silver jewellery, I would go for coral or bright pink shades on your nails Smile

Coral would be wonderful. I've worn that combo myself.

Ok will head to Bobbi Brown. Hoping they can do something as I look shattered having had very little sleep - quite usual really. I take it brown neutral not so good with my colouring? Should I be looking at greys? Will see what they suggest.

In not sure I can wear orange or coral. I know I'm not 'supposed' to. Very bright red looks ok on me but not sure that would go with the dress.

I'm having my toes done as part of a pedicure nearer the time so hopefully they will have a bright pink. Not much point in a manicure though as even shellac doesn't last more than a day. So anything I get for my fingers needs to be easy for me to do myself and not look too messy!
