Can anyone find me a really great summer day dress for SAHM days?

I'm looking for a dress for days at home with children. I'm struggling to find something flattering and fairly fashionable but at the same time practical and long enough as I'm 5ft 9 and don't want to look as if I'm trying to emulate a teenager.

I don't suit relaxed styles either so it needs to be fairly fitted but casual at the same time. I prefer a darker colour, preferably black, navy or grey, plain or with subtle stripes/ polka dots, nothing loud/ Bodenesque.

If it helps, I'm slim with a fairly flat tummy, small busted with a more curvy lower half.

Has anyone seen anything that might fit the bill?

I'm marking my place as this is exactly what I'm looking for, although I need brighter (I'm a spring) colours, and I'm finding it impossible to find! Sorry I can't help op!

Bumping for you as I'm after the same thing, though I'm a bit shorter and fatter Grin

I sound similar to you in size and taste and I too have been looking for nice sun dresses all summer that are nice for throwing on without looking too tarty or being impractical.

I happened upon this in TK Maxx last week. It is much nicer on as it is quite slim fitting but not actually tight so it is also quite forgiving. I was really pleasantly surprised, they had quite a few nice summer dresses all around the £20 mark.

A few others

I know you said you didn't want Boden-esque but I just bought the Boden Montmartre Dress in the dark denim and it's perfect (and 60% off in the sale). Nice and structured but not too tight across the middle. You might want the long version as you're tall.

Thank you v much for those suggestions.
I think the Boden is perhaps too unstructured for me. I will a have a look in my local TK Maxx.

Don't quite understand why anyone would want a very structured dress just to stay at home with children - could be a bit restrictive if they're at age you have to do a lot of lifting, getting down on floor and running about. But each to their own and perhaps they're past that age and you also plan to go out and about with them, entertain or meet up with adult friends. Hope you find something you like.

I don't want something structured like a work dress but perhaps a jersey type material that is fairly fitted at the top. Structured is probably the wrong word to use. I mean, I don't want a boxy fit and the reviews seem to suggest that it might be. Other than that, it looks good (plain colour, simple, etc).
Sadly, I get v little time to meet adult friends, at least not without children in tow!

I've got this white stuff dress and it's great. Dress up or down, lovely comfy material. What's not to like? :)
