haven't had a new one for a rew years last year I continued to wear old maternity coat despite dd being born in may! - so I'm definately due one. Probably chocolate brown - but would consider anything. I have NO idea whats trendy...

Fashion is of secondary importance - most important thing is that it's flattering and you like it!
What shape are you?
Are you gifted with large norks?
Do you need it to be waterproof / have a hood / be machine washable etc or are we talking wool here?

MrsApronstrings · 11/09/2006 15:45

I am 5'3, and 9 stone - a pretty standard size 10. Slightly pear shaped - but not too bad, good waist. Norkally challenged at a 32b. I walk and drive a lot and am always cold!

Go for a choc brown single breasted peacoat with a bit of a swing in the skirt, I've seen some good ones in Zara and Wallis, it'll be a classic.

multitasker · 11/09/2006 15:49

Saw a lovely cream belted one in a couple of mags from George @ Asda - only £35 I think. Sounds like it might suit your shape.

MrsBadger · 11/09/2006 16:10

Like the sound of AvaLou's suggestions (Zara do lush coats), but as slim and petite of nork you are also a candidate for the beautiful red coat from M&S - or indeed their brown funnel-neck but go carefully with that tie belt.
Laura Ashley also have a glimpse of a rather cool double-breasted brown coat on their front page but I can't seem to find it in any of the collections.

I'd go for wool if I were you - much the warmest option unless you want a quilted down one.

MrsApronstrings · 11/09/2006 19:03

like the red one but my hair is on the reddish side - also not sure I can do any of the big necked ones(I get a bit phobic) - which makes me think form looking round that I will have to be out of fashion this year

the red one at Marks is gorgeous!! I don't think I could go so bright though. I like the chocolate too... guess I need to make a trip to M&S

MrsApronstrings · 11/09/2006 21:20

bump for any others - haven't seen anything I love yet...

Hey coderoo, have you tried that White Stuff one on- is it long, is it warm? Does it mess with your eyes as it seems to in the picture?

krabbiepatty · 11/09/2006 21:33

I am quite attracted to that not-green White Stuff coat but fear I may be making a category error in line with my belief that I look good in surfy tops...

MrsApronstrings · 11/09/2006 21:36

brown - called norwood puffa - just happened to walk past it in a department store - its too expensive apart from anything else. i guess I'm too early really - just know i really have to get one this year and am so bad at making my mind up that the one i want is generally sold out by the time i stop dithering
