I have a business meeting with an ex

I have to go to a meeting when he will be there, and I've done all the work I can do to be super prepared, super cool and professional for it. I've had my hair done and will do nails etc.

I really need to find a DRESS. I don't want him back - but I would like to rub in just a tiny bit what he is missing. Especially as (not due to him...well maybe a little bit, ahhh the heartbreak diet) I have lost a ton of weight recently, been doing loads of exercise and really toned up and look better than I have in years. I guess its not really about him, but about me feeling confident and ready to blow the socks off the people I have to present to. Including him ....gulp...

I have a Ronen Chen sleeveless very fitted dress which I love, but have worn quite a lot recently. I'd like something along that vein - fitted, sleeveless, officey but also pretty damn hot if possible. I'm a size 10, hourglass so body con style suits me. Well, at least until after this meeting when I have a hot date with the biscuit tin.

Oh please help! I am so nervous about this and a great dress would really help.

Why don't you wear the dress you already own and feel comfortable in?

Ex hasn't seen you in awhile and if you are going with colleagues I doubt they will notice.

Focus on hair and makeup.

I'm sure your presentation will go well

Staywithme · 11/07/2014 10:50

Oh Jilly that's beautiful, simple but sexy.

Gillybobs · 11/07/2014 11:18

I know, I WANT!

Bloodymidges · 11/07/2014 11:31

That dress is PERFECT - but they can't deliver it to me by Tuesday and I don't live near a store. They aren't answering the phone either. :(

Which shops can you get to? Need to try dresses on to check fit is perfect

Floisme · 11/07/2014 11:44

I really feel for you, op but, at the risk of sounding like an agony aunt, I wouldn't rush into buying anything that isn't totally work appropriate (pity about the LK Bennett dress - I agree that did look the business). As mirpuppet says, will the ex have even seen the dress you already own? Can you post a link to it?

Bloodymidges · 11/07/2014 11:58

Unfortunately about 8.5 million years ago he bought it for me - so I really don't want to wear it incase he thinks I'm sending a message IFSWIM? It is a Ronen Chen Elinor dress.

I'm in the Highlands so the only shop I can really get to are high street or Debenhams. Nearest town is Inverness.

I'm not going to get anything that isn't work appropriate - my professionalism is first - always. And I can afford a wee splurge, so £100-£150 is do-able.

They sell through the major dept stores too, John Lewis etc will do express delivery if you can find it? Havent scrolled thru but they have a few LK Bennett dresses...

Floisme · 11/07/2014 12:07

Ah yes, I see exactly what you mean op. And sorry, I didn't mean to imply that you wouldn't choose something professional. Blimey what a bugger. Is there anything on Net-a-porter?

ShineSmile · 11/07/2014 12:08

If you call them they might be able to post it out to you 1st class? Or maybe try one of the stores. They might be kind enough to post out to you.

scarletforya · 11/07/2014 12:12

Both dresses are gorgeous but TOO OBVIOUS!

You need something that looks as though you didn't try yet looks amazing......

Bloodymidges · 11/07/2014 12:16

I hear what you're saying scarlet. Any suggestions welcome. And I really appreciate the help you all are giving me. And no worries Flo! I'm going to try phoning LK bennet.

How about this?

baskingseals · 11/07/2014 12:20

What about a cream silk shirt, with a charcoal grey pencil skirt? Bit more casual maybe?

MostlyCake · 11/07/2014 18:29

Actually. The Karen Millen one has a really deep v back which might be a bit much for a work meeting...

Reese123 · 11/07/2014 19:14

What about this dress from Reiss

sebsmummy1 · 11/07/2014 19:30

Oh I love the idea of a pencil skirt and a shirt/blouse. I think that's a very sexy work look that is professional.

sillymillyb · 11/07/2014 20:04

this isn't that subtle, but you can get it from debenhams so you would have it in time for your meeting

or this??

Greengardenpixie · 11/07/2014 22:29

What about ordering something from next? They have lots of office wear, brand and offer next day delivery.

polyhymnia · 11/07/2014 22:57

I think the silk blouse and skirt combo sounds best - think Gillian Anderson in The Fall. Most of these dresses look perhaps a bit try-hard. Eg the Reiss one is gorgeous but looks a bit evening-y to me.

WildFlowersAttractBees · 12/07/2014 06:47

Does Inverness still have a Coast and a Monsoon?

Monsoon have this. Fab on and not overly try hard.

THIS and THIS (not sleeveless but lovely on) are available from Coast. They also have a good sale on in my local store.
