Eek! scary. Going from black to dark blonde.

I've almost bitten the bullet and I'm shitting myself it'll look crap and I'll hate it but I have to change my hair colour.
Been black for 5 years, I do like it dark but I'm sick to death of dying it every 2 weeks when my grey roots come through.
I'm predominantly grey. My natural colour at the root is looking like a very light brown/dark blonde but I can't say for sure (haven't had it totally natural for over 20 years)
I'm hoping the blonde will lessen the harshness of root regrowth - I currently look like a skunk with about 2cms of root. :)
Going to book the appt tomorrow.

Anyone else done the same and loved or hated it?

Appointment was at 4 and I'm just back about 15 mins ago.
Took an age and 3 bleach baths later but my hair is now a mixture of dark blonde with a kind of gingery/honey highlights through it.
The black stripped out very well, my hair dresser was surprised at the colour we managed but puts it down to there not being much build up of dye on my hair to start off with and my hair was in good condition.

There was another lady in getting the same done but her hair was very long and she had multi dyes and multi colours under the black - she didn't leave so happy as she could only get to a mid brown because they couldn't strip any more in case they fucked her hair.

I'm so happy the black is no more :)

Sounds really good. Can you link to a photo? Someone else if not you. How often will it need redoing?

This is a similar colour to what I've got, a mix between both of the photo's but mine is much shorter/shaved/spiky.
