Summer Picnic Ball - what footwear?

I am going to a Summer Picnic Ball on Sat and am wearing a long summery dress (it is held outdoors in a marquee).

I'm not keen on wearing heels as they can be a nightmare in grassy fields!! Can I just go barefoot?

I think barefoot would look odd! Could you cope with a low wedge (much better on grass than pointy heels)?

How about some jewelled flat sandals?

I'm on a fairly tight budget unfortunately and was hoping it would'nt show with a long dress.

I think it will show. Fine as long as you don't mind the eccentric hippy look. Do you have any flip flops? If the dress is long people will only see the front bit.

I wondered about flip flops, but hoped I could just go barefoot

Go with what you feel comfortable with, bare feet with pretty toe nails or a pair of flip flop type footwear that looks the part, eg metallic details or beads, flowers etc, you can always take them off if you want to.

Have a lovely time and lots of fun Smile

Thanks - will take some sandals in my bag but go barefoot - same effect but less fuss

I'd worry about standing on or in something nasty when barefoot - animal poo, prickly weeds, wasp, syringe etc.

I'd go with flip flops or sandals. Have fun!
