The best indulgent suncreams and after sun lotions please?

I'm going on a last minute trip to the Med next week and I need to buy some sun creams for me and 18 yo DS. We both have dry and sensitive skin so I would like something that pampers my skin as well as giving good protection.

I swim a lot but I'm prepared to keep applying creams after swimming (DS not so keen though!) as I have used an "apply once" cream in the past, which whilst it did work, felt horrible - as though my skin couldn't breathe.

I've been using Clinique CC cream on my face recently and have found it very good - not even a reddening of the nose after an unexpected afternoon outside in the sun when if I had known about it would probably have applied a specialised sun protection cream.

It's not a dedicated after sun cream, but Clinique's Deep Comfort Body Butter is divine.

I like Piz Buin best of the suncreams for moisturising - just the usual white cream, not the oil free stuff or sprays. I always buy very high factor, 50+.

I would also drink plenty of water and take a fish oil supplement, cod liver is fine, it makes a big difference to dry skin.

Have a fab time!

Thanks for that. I shall track down some of the Clinique Body Butter in the airport!

If you're shopping at the airport, try Clarins Toning Body Balm and their after sun products too, and Clinique's after sun - they're all lovely. You'll have fun testing, and be totally moisturised for your flight Grin

I always use Clarins after sun products for body and face - find them very good.

If I really wanted/ was able to splurge, would go for Sisley's Sunleya.

My flight is ridiculously early but if I'm awake enough I will try all the testers, thanks! Grin.

Neals yard of a lovely range

For face, the best I've tried (& I've been via Clarins and Chanel & the sun brands) is Shiseido 50+ for face. It's incredibly light for such high protection. Love it.

sun sense SPF is excellent, even the factor 50 baby cream is not sticky. I am definitely buying the facial one for me when my current one runs out.

I swear by Parasol Sport, its a light "apply once" oil, though I do tend to top it up. I'm very fair & have never burned when using this, neither have my children. Also I find it easy & pleasant to apply on them without any moaning.

Anyone have any swanky hair products for sunny climes? Need a gift for someone

WorkingBling · 12/07/2014 08:18

This isn't indulgent at all but I stock up on Nivea before travelling. I find it the most effective on post sun skin. It's not glamourous but works better than anything else I have used

BringMeTea · 12/07/2014 08:29

Kerastase huile celeste for hair.

the Ambre Solaire sport range is good, non -greasy and works. Reapply after swimming like all suncreams.

if your son doesn't do that he''ll be bright red and blistering on evening 1. A rash vest and boardies will reduce the damage.
