Wet festival with baby <sad face>

So we're off to a festival tomorrow and Sunday. Not camping as it's fairly local. Baby is 14 months and has wellies, rain coat and plenty of stuff to wear. She will just be happy to be in the great outdoors, people watching. She will look super cute in anything and everything.

DH has the über stormsheild Fulton brolly and army surplus wet wear gear. He always looks amazing. It's not fair.

I have zilch. Nada. And am panicking. And will look wet, bedraggled with streaky mascara, bad hair and huge bags from 14 months of no sleep.

Ok, the "I have nothing part was a small lie". I have Hunter wellies and an old sort of rain proof Nike sports coat.

I don't have anything except 'mummy' jeans and the usual SAHM drab, boob milk / food stained tops.

I was hoping for glorious sun, like today. But the forecast is rain all day. Sob. I was going to wear a lovely old cashmere sweater and denim shorts with wellies or flipflops. I'm not sure this will cut it. Wet jeans are horrible.

the sun was supposed to shine; I was supposed to look glam.

Help?!

Oh and I can get to the shops this afternoon for an hour max. And have a teeny tiny budget.

Shorts will be fine

Get self a cute hat, job done

PrincessChick · 04/07/2014 15:49

Thanks peddlars. Good idea about the hat. Wouldn't have thought of that at all. I'm going to put some tights on under shorts just in case. Wet tights are much more bearable than wet jeans!

Hat = no brolly juggling or hood slipping back

Hat = jaunty and nonchalant

Have a fabby time

PrincessChick · 04/07/2014 15:54

No, I actually declare that you are a genius! And a relatively quick item to buy too :D

landsend have lots of good rainproof stuff in their sale, they do have a couple of shops, Joules are selling festival ponchos (as long as you don't mind looking a bit like a huntin', shootin', fishin', chintz sofa)

Greengardenpixie · 04/07/2014 16:58

You could wear your shorts with tights? Tights and wellies! :)

MorelloKisses · 04/07/2014 19:54

somewhere to aim?!

grumblepuss · 04/07/2014 20:15

Tea dress, tights and wellies. With a PROPER waterproof.
Get thee to an outdoors shop and buy one. Do not underestimate how wet you'll get if you're outdoors all day. You'll buy one and wear it for the next 10 years.
Bitter voice of experience of wet festivals.

PS - no one will notice what you're wearing, doubly so if its wet.

AnythingNotEverything · 04/07/2014 20:22

Yes - a proper waterproof is a must. Not one of those showerproof fashion ones. That feels like being wet inside a plastic bag.
