Where can I get nice looking, good quality, non-label sportswear?

The choice seems to be either Nike et al, or cotton jogging bottoms. Which are too hot. And look crap. Please help me, I like the yoga type styles, or anything cool and feminine, but not branded, please.

have you tried somewhere like bhs or supermarkets?

LaylaandSethsmum · 09/09/2006 21:51

Have you got a Decathalon store near you? They sell loads of stuff mainly their own brand and its pretty reasonable.

foxinsocks · 09/09/2006 21:52

what are yoga type styles?

weirdly, I found some fab cycling pants in Lidl the other day. If you keep an eye on what they bring out (on their website), they often have some quite good non-branded stuff.

LaylaandSethsmum · 09/09/2006 21:53

This is their store locater

I did try BHS but they didn't have small sizes (I have unfeasibly small bottom )

we don't have decathlon or Lidl

I didn't think if supermarkets but won't it all just be cheapo cotton stuff? I like the Nike fabrics etc - they have great lightweight modern materials.

Yoga styles are like those loose cotton pants, and wrap around tops or similar. Or I could maybe do with some cropped trousers. I am not sure.

Next? Asda?

FrannyandZooey · 09/09/2006 21:57

Oh thanks for the decathlon link, we occasionally go to Lakeside.

The Next stuff looks good, I think their stuff is over priced sweatshop gear on the whole, but I do really like those styles, and at least they are not Nike

Saw some lovely yoga type ones in Le Redoute

JackieNo · 09/09/2006 22:13

Oooh, ooh - The White Company? But not the cheapest.

foxinsocks · 09/09/2006 22:18

they look alright (the white company ones) though a bit flared - what on earth is a 'deep self waistband'

I think they should publicly flog these marketing types who write ridiculous descriptions

JennT · 09/09/2006 22:36

Not being funny but have you tried M&S? I like their view from behind running stuff. There are no labels and are dead cumfy. They do 4 different trouser lengths (although extra longs are still too short).

magicmummy · 09/09/2006 23:38

Have you got a Soccer Sports or a Sports World Shop near you, they are very good value for money and sell unbranded and branded items.

FrannyandZooey · 10/09/2006 07:00

Thank you, you are all so helpful. I have a few places to try now. Is the M + S sports range really called "From Behind"?

and I am embarrassed to admit I know exactly what a deep self waistband is

i have some fab yoga pants from running bare but they are not cheap. very flattering to the arse though

Tutter · 10/09/2006 11:59

(i have the easy fit tactel yoga pant)

(love that 'pant' singular thing )

FrannyandZooey · 10/09/2006 13:44

Hmm, I have no arse so what is flattering to me is not the same as what is flattering to most women. It does tend to look particularly non-existent in exercise gear.

Ruddy nora I have just seen the prices on that site - that's a no, I'm afraid.

i had some really nice puma yoga pants, i know they're a label but they looked great and weren't too branded

Tutter · 10/09/2006 17:17

ah but franny i too am a member of the flatarse brigade. the pair i mentioned have an ingenious white stripe on the back that makes my backside look almost shapely. i jest not when i say they are the most flattering things i own (and i include my very expensive jeans).

go on, you know you want to.

FrannyandZooey · 10/09/2006 17:48

"almost shapely"

hmmmm

tempting, very tempting

JennT · 10/09/2006 21:06

View from behind as in eat my dust slow coach.

FrannyandZooey · 10/09/2006 21:24

ooh I see

I liked the idea of wearing trousers called From Behind

TooTicky · 10/09/2006 21:26
