If I'm allergic to waxing will an epilator be the same?

I've posted before about my waxing allergy. After 20 years I think I've become allergic to the process; for 7 days after I have had the most unbelievable itch & needed prescription strength antihistamines. Once to hairs start to poke through it settles down.
I'm wondering if the same will happen with an epilator as the method sounds similar.
I don't want to waste ££.

Thank you.

What causes the reaction, the contact if the wax on the skin or the pulling out of the hair?

If it's the wax, have you considered sugaring? That can be better for people with sensitive skin as the sugar grips mainly the hair, and there is minimum impact on skin (not the case with wax)

If the trauma of pulling out the hair is causing the reaction then an epilator will be the same as waxing!

I'm not sure. The allergy happens exactly 24 hours after waxing so I don't think it's a topical allergy.
I think it might be the pulling process so I guess that epilator would be the same.
Thanks for replying

Maybe get a dermatologist referral from the GP

Thanks for the comments. I didn't put anything on, bare legs no sun . It's most odd & my GP wasn't sure.
I don't think I'll risk an epilator, back to wet razors I suppose.

I can't wax so tried a friend's epilator to see if that would work, it didn't my legs were covered in red circular blotches painful and took a few days for them to go.

I've given up on having my moustache hot waxed as it goes red and blotchy for days. I can epilate it though if I feel brave and i only end up with the occasional ingrowing hair spot
