Will Bravissimo measure me even tho I'm small (er)?

Having realised from my last post that I am most certainly wearing the wrong sized bra I would really like to check what I should be wearing (or at least have a rough idea)
I have been wearing a 34B for ever but one boob keeps sliding out!

Just done the under bust (came in at 31 inches) not so sure about the round boobs when hanging down as mine are sort of thin and flappy but did seem to be around 35 inches. Would Bravissimo be able to measure me even if I'm not big enough for their bras? I don't want to go in there and have them go 'sorry we don't go that small Grin)

Dunno about Bravissimo, but John Lewis are worth a try.

SorrelForbes · 02/07/2014 20:01

Absolutely. I suspect you'll be around a 30DD anyway!

CMOTDibbler · 02/07/2014 20:02

You are probably a 30dd, so in the Bravissimo size range.

pinkflaming0 · 02/07/2014 23:02

I second that - I measure same as you and am a 30DD. However when I went to Bravissimo I didn't find anything that fitted properly or was flattering for smaller boobs. I bought one bra that I have never worn.

I've found Next and M&S a better fit but had to try on dozens and dozens of bras. Oh and Calvin Klein.

Specific DD ranges always seem to be over engineered for smaller band sizes and premium ranges seem obsessed with bows, frills, prints, rosebuds etc. etc. Or plain bras that look like something my granny would have worn circa 1970!

It really is so dependant on your particular size and shape. I'm a big fan of unpadded Cleo bras which are definitely not old fashioned or frumpy.

You will need to try on a lot of bras before finding the makes and shapes that work for you. In some ways it's worse than shopping for jeans!

pinkflaming0 · 02/07/2014 23:30

Definitely worse than shopping for jeans and that's bad enough.

Agree entirely that it is dependent on size and shape but, I've not found a 30DD bra from a DD+ range that doesn't have straps that are too thick or make me a weird pointy shape or have prominent seams or unnecessary embellishment or just look plain bulky on a small frame and I tried loads and loads.

I stopped looking once I found my almost perfect bra in Next totally by accident, especially as it was half the price of the specialist ones I'd been ordering so, I may have found what I was looking for if I'd kept going

However, I really think that there's a gap in the market for delicate, plain, sexy bras for DD+ in a 30" band and smaller that nobody is filling.

Probably because most of the size 10, 8 and 6 ladies are wearing 34A or B bras! Hence the number of 30" and smaller DD+ bras sold is artificially low so no manufacturer/retailer is really interested.

Totally agree with pinklamingo0, I wear a 30DD, I have small boobs and don't want or need thick straps or wide bands with three hooks. I want to be able to wear strappy tops without the straps on my bra being twice as wide.

ThisBitchIsResting · 03/07/2014 10:16

I'm a 28D or often buy 30C, and find Calvin Klein bras the best for everyday, and Elle MacPherson also nice for smaller boobs.

AgathaF · 03/07/2014 13:50

Oh I so agree about the wide straps. I really dislike them. I'm 32F and just don't need that kind of wide-strapped support. I bought a Masquerade bra recently, just because the straps are quite a lot thinner than others in that size.

Amethyst24 · 03/07/2014 17:05

Oh god I am SO with you on the wide straps! I'm a 30E and this drives me demented.

pinkflaming0 · 03/07/2014 17:17

Actually the only other bras I wear are Calvin Klein ThisBitch. They are my current t-shirt bras in nude and black. But 30DD is their largest size and they seem to come up small as I actually get overspill when I scoop. Doesn't show under clothes but it does grate a bit as I know how a bra should fit now!

But, they are still tons better than any other DD t-shirt bra I've found so I live with that.

I've heard Elle MacPherson is good before, must try.

pinkfrocks · 03/07/2014 17:21

I think you have to experiment with sizes. I measure 30 under bust and 35 over and am wearing J Lewis padded underwired T shirt type in a 32D. I can't breathe in a 30 inch and find Elle McPherson odd sizing- very small all over and some of the lace is scratchy.

I'd try it. There's something about being smaller that means you sound like you have enormous norks and easily fit into Bravissimo sizes without looking that impressive. I'm currently a 28EE or 28F in various of their bras, I do not look like I have amazing boobs. It's just the small back seems to make the cup size larger.

I love Bravissimo and I also like that they don't sell you the bra by size, they sell you the bra by fit. I'd be amazed if you didn't fit into something of theirs.
