I am really struggling to find something that fits me and I feel comfortable/confident in.

I am a size 16/18 (mostly 18 atm :( )

DD bust

5'5 tall

Problem areas- tummy and thighs

Don't mind my arms

Have been looking for a pretty, summery dress, maybe floral but seem to have lost all judgement when it comes to working out what suits my size/shape

Plus will be running around/ rugby tackling! my 8yr old Ds I imagine (not keen on family events/large gatherings)- so although I want to look pretty it needs to be practical i.e keep my boobs firmly in place when bending and long enough to cover bum when scrambling around desperately looking for the great escape artist

Would something like this work?

newyearnewshoes · 29/06/2014 21:01

There is a sale at Coast at the moment!

newyearnewshoes · 29/06/2014 21:06

What about this?

anotherdayanothersquabble · 29/06/2014 21:07

How about something from Lady V London?

DottyDooRidesAgain · 29/06/2014 21:15

Bold

Maxi

EnglishRose1320 · 29/06/2014 21:15

Love some of those Lady V London dresses, another day- it's just whether I have the confidence to wear a bold dress and not hide in something bland.

Same with the Coast dress, New Year + it's a tad out of my price range, aiming to spend around the £50 mark, although if my OH can't get the time off work and I have to take the children on my own I might guilt trip him into spoiling me a bit :)

Where is she- lovely dress but very much like what my SIL is wearing to the wedding

Have a look at Phase 8 - they have lots of stretchy dresses that might work for you and generally they are a flattering fit. I think they have a sale atm.

Nice heeled sandals and a bag and you're sorted.

FamiliesShareGerms · 29/06/2014 22:18

This?

Problem with Coast is you never know who else might turn up in the same frock

newyearnewshoes · 29/06/2014 23:32

Very true about Coast, but they are very flattering and maybe with a nice shrug or wrap and a fascinator or hat, you would look different if someone else turned up in the same.
Good luck OP!

Slightly over budget but boobs well tucked in Smile www.asos.com/ASOS/ASOS-Premium-Midi-Skater-Dress-In-Broderie/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=3829707&WT.ac=rec_viewed

Thank you for all your replies, a friend dragged me shopping the other day and I fully expected everything to look terrible on me and to still have no clue what to wear, I can happily report the total opposite, found loads of dresses to add to the list and now have the other much nicer problem of trying to weedle it down to the right one.

It is looking like it is between the following:

Plus a few more besides but I think these are top atm, opinions welcome! :)

I love the first and last. Not so sure about the Monsoon one as I always find that style can be a bit 'gapey' (sp?).

The Phase Eight is the most wedding but you might get more use out of the Lady V.

EnglishRose1320 · 03/07/2014 20:21

Think you pretty much summed up my thoughts,

Monsoon one I am also worried about how orange it is- normally stick to fairly safe colours.

I love the Phase Eight one but yes I am worried at over my budget I wont get much use out of it.

Lady V seems like a good compromise but means picking the only one I haven't tried on which is a bit of worry

There are lots of people on here that swear by Lady V dresses. I'm sure they would know about sizing if that helped. You could start another thread.

(The Monsoon one is pretty orange!)

EnglishRose1320 · 06/07/2014 13:03

Thanks Justinepants

I think I am sold on the Lady V dress now so will go and carefully measure myself

For another tenner, I'd get this or this if you like the 50s style.

EnglishRose1320 · 06/07/2014 14:19

I love the spotty one tethersend

The black is nice as well but my family would not approve of a black dress at as wedding!
