oh god - my stomach! What can I do in ten days to reduce it's impact?

I'm ridiculously fat - but my stomach seems to have become a huge hot air balloon of massiveness.
I know time is limited but is there anything I can do in the next ten days or so to make it less of an embarrassment? All suggestions welcome (not over keen on corset style underwear).
TIA

cut out wheat/gluten?

MiconiumHappens · 29/06/2014 18:41

Cut out carbs. I see a big difference within 3 days. Also soup or salad as a meal as often as you can. Don't go crazy or you'll fall off the wagon. Slow and steady the odd treat is ok.

DottyDot · 29/06/2014 18:44

Reduce carbs, no sugary crap, no alcohol, drink tons of water all the time and get hold of Jillian Michaels' Shred DVD, which is the only exercise-y thing that I've tried that I've seen a difference in just a few days, so as much as I actively hate Jillian for all the pain she puts me through, it's worth it if you want to see a difference very quickly.

glowstick · 29/06/2014 18:46

Totally wheat free and minimal carbs. Will make a noticeable difference.

ShadowsShadowsEverywhere · 29/06/2014 18:46

The shred is on youtube now. And she does one that's just for abs, if you search Jillian Michaels on yputube I'm sure it'll come up.

DottyDot · 29/06/2014 18:55

ooh I didn't know that re: just abs - am off to have a look! Grin

ShadowsShadowsEverywhere · 29/06/2014 19:03

I've just googled - it's called 'Six week six pack abs workout'.

Itscurtainsforyou · 29/06/2014 19:07

All the above, plus a body wrap that can take a few inches.

If you have the time/money/inclination, I know someone who's just gone on an intensive boot camp week and reckons she's lost half a stone rather her than me

Ragglefrock · 29/06/2014 20:24

I'll get myself in YouTube then- what's a body wrap? Could I do one on myself? I would otherwise have to go to a salon three towns away to avoid the possibility of ever seeing the therapist again.

Cut out sugar
Caffeine
Carbs
Wheat
Alcohol

It will work but drink gallons if water to wade off the come down headaches and also do a decent shop so you have handy snack alternatives or it all becomes stressful when you're hungry and can't eat 'anything'

FergusSingsTheBlues · 30/06/2014 06:06

If you are completely mad/ dedicated/ paranoid what about a juice fast? You can shift seven pounds in a week, plus because if no wheat gluten, your stomach will subside big time. I look at least a dress size s,aller f I cut it out

GobblersKnob · 30/06/2014 06:12

When people are suggesting cutting out sugar are you including fruit or just the refined stuff?

Fideliney · 30/06/2014 06:19

Is a juice fast exactly what it sounds like?

So is that the opposite of cutting out carbs?

Blossum123 · 01/07/2014 06:47

Does cutting out carbs get rid of a chubby stomach - that is precisely the area I want yo trim off ?

rowna · 01/07/2014 18:12

Swim - it makes a massive difference to mine in a few days. With no need to starve.

SpringyReframed · 01/07/2014 18:53

Ragglefrock, I'm going to try all these suggestions, well not the juice fast but the rest. GrinThe caffeine thing might kill me but I'm going to try (beach in 10 days).

Is decaf tea and coffee ok, does anyone know?

Itscurtainsforyou · 01/07/2014 18:59

Yeah decaf is fine - although ideally without milk if you're going hardcoreWink

SpringyReframed · 01/07/2014 19:54

Hmm, water might be preferable! Thanks Smile

BackforGood · 01/07/2014 20:07

erm.... are you sure it's just fat?
Don't want to be a doom and gloom merchant but a ballooned stomach can be a symptom of other things - obviously might not be, but not something I'd want to ignore.
