I require footwear for walking from cottage onto beach and walking miles along beach. Will get wet and my Birkenstocks buckles have rusted.

I need comfy, kick-offable footwear.

My friend swears she can live forever (well until it snows) in her new croc sandals. Are they any good?

I wear crocs to the beach. So do the dc and dh.

ThirteenHorses · 29/06/2014 17:41

Classic crocs for me and dc, easily kick-off-and-on-able.

I took a friends dd camping by the beach with recently, and they sent her with lace-up pumps she couldn't do up herself, I was ready to throttle her parents with the laces after the fiftieth time I had to take her shoes on and off for her.

I have some Reef flip flops I wear that have a thick, shaped foamy sole and fabric/webbing top part so are fine when they get wet. Really comfortable for walking in too.

Not good for in deep water though as they want to float but fine for at the waters edge.

yep. cleo IIIs (crocs) are comfy for beach walking (any walking really)

Try Saltwater sandals - I swim in mine and can walk miles, they are three years old and look as good as new despite regular trips to beach and river for swims (both of which involve a bit of a hike). I also can slip them on and off without having to faff with the buckles. The soles of Crocs go bald and slippery I find. My DD's also have saltwaters and love them.

Havaianas every time.

Sketchers Go Walk. I have these and wore them on holiday for walking everywhere. They are The Most Comfortable pair of shoes I have ever had the pleasure to walk in. They are perfect for beach wear and wash well in the washing machine.

Disclaimer - I don't work for Sketchers.

Thanks all. I am googling sandals tonight. I might have to buy a few different types as I just cannot decide...

I love crocs. I always return to my black clog crocs. However what about saltwater sandals. They come in a selection of colours and are made from the beach. I dont have a pair but ive been tempted. They look supercomfy and quirky in the variety of colours.

The leather is coated with a water resistant sealant and they mould to the user’s feet with repeated wear. The brass buckles allow straps to be adjusted for narrow or wide feet. They are great for running in and out of the ocean and can be popped into the washing machine; the perfect summer sandal for both wet and dry conditions. A summer staple in America for 70 years, they are now being spotted on a growing number of celebrity children such as Suri Cruise, Ramone Saasgard, Matilda Ledger, Romy Mars and Ruby Maguire. Grown up fans include Sienna Miller, Alexa Chung, Paloma Faith, Fearne Cotton and Maggie Gyllenhaal.

they are for adults too! Toast also sell them.
