Costume jewellery - are there any rules?

Or is it that anything goes?

I was wondering for instance how do you know if you are a chunky jewellery person, or if you would be better suited to more dainty pieces? Does it depend on outfit, personality or your frame?

How do some people just 'know' what goes with what, and what suits them? Is there a place to learn this stuff?

I wish someone would teach me - I just make it up as I go along... In my head, if you're a larger frame (like me) chunkier/larger jewellery is best as more delicate stuff would be lost. But I could be wrong.

Thank You. I vaguely remember something similar from a tv programme (gok? t&s?) But not sure how you would decide if your frame was large or not iyswim. I need to be more adventurous and have a play around I think..

I sometimes wonder this myself!

I usually go with either a necklace or earrings but not both together as I am quite dainty and don't always suit chunky pieces even when they are matching a set of a "look" iyswim.

I've had the colours day, but not the style day as I'm a bit scared of it. I hate fussy clothes (frills and flouncy bits) and worried that I'll be told that's the way I should be dressing.

The colour diagnosis wasn't that surprising, I am a winter and I had been choosing those colours for years - without knowing they were winter colours.

I tend to choose small jewellery but I'm not sure if that's the best thing for me.
