My nearest one is quite a drive away, but will happily go if there's anything worth getting. Anyone been recently?

but nothing else - I bought what I thought was a quite-cute surfy polo shirt and DH made me take it back.
The best bit was at the Customer Service desk:

'Can I ask why you're returning this item, madam?'
'Do you really want to know?'
'Er, yes...'
'My husband said it made me look like a chav.'
'Ah. Right.'

(I want an oink coat)

Molesworth · 08/09/2006 13:01

LOL MrsBadger!

BettySpaghetti · 08/09/2006 13:01

pmsl at MrsB at customer services! Honesty is the best policy, so they say

I ventured into today - it was bliss, quiet and tidy.

I saw shocking pink legwarmers - only £1

Now, didn't you pull legwarmers over your feet up to your toes in the 80's? There - problem solved for everyone wanting to wear leggings/footless tights in the winter.

nailpolish · 08/09/2006 14:10

"over your feet up to your toes"

wassat, fimbo ?

AvaLou · 08/09/2006 14:15

Does anyone elses local Primark always have 15 minute wait queues for the tills?
I have developed a method of avoidance for this as otherwise I'd never be able to face shopping there.

saltire · 08/09/2006 14:20

Primark in Dundee is awful. The clothes are great- once you pick them up off the floor. I watched a woman one day rifling through a pile of shirts on a tiered display. She opened each one out, checked the size and threw it on the floor, she did this with several before deciding she didin't want any. Then i've seen others throwing clothes on the floor in the kids section or from rails till they find the szie they want. and there is alway only one set of tills open - either the upstairs ones or the downstairs ones, never both. I do however like their kids clothes.

nailpolish · 08/09/2006 14:22

i agreee saltire

i see they were advertising for staff in the courier for the new one opening shortly, in the old littlewoods opposite

can you imagine the interviews..............

Glassofwine · 08/09/2006 14:24

Nearest one to me is Kingston and it's quite new and fairly big, so doesn't have that jumble sale feel that some do. Other than an oink coat doesn't sound like there's much to go for then?

Loved the story Mrs Badger - you ahve guts.

I just hope they keep the place looking a bit cleaner, and get some staff in that aren't - well, glaikit

Fimbo · 08/09/2006 14:27

NP-like a sock gone wrong tis best way to describe it. Toes were then stuffed into shoes (mind you you were a mere child in the 80's unlike me )

nailpolish · 08/09/2006 14:27

i think being glaikit is compulsory saltire

i have decided now i wouldnt be seen dead in primark in dundee, its just not worth it

Glassofwine · 08/09/2006 14:28

what's glaikit?

OP posts:
nailpolish · 08/09/2006 14:29

youre not that old dear fimbo

i used to wear my legwarmers over my shoes, mum went nuts when the bottom bits got muddy and ripped

mind yuou thats probably because she used to knit them

Fimbo · 08/09/2006 14:29

It's the sales assistant blouses/shirts that get me. How do they manage to get white looking so grey/dirty? Yuk

Fimbo · 08/09/2006 14:31

Come to Norwich, NP. I haven't told you this before but it is an old

saltire · 08/09/2006 14:36

Glaikit is a Scots word which I suppose means thick, or stupid, or acts stupidly

nailpolish · 08/09/2006 14:52

what is old, fimbs??

mazzystar · 08/09/2006 15:13

I went in my first ever Primark yesterday in Southport.

I shan't be going again.

They've got a very good PR machine going that's for certain but I've rarely seen a more depressing pile of dire old tat.

emzickle · 08/09/2006 17:09

Fimbo... are you from Norwich then?

I went to "fimbo's" the other day with Dp - oh how romance lives

Glassofwine · 08/09/2006 18:30

Mazzystar - it is true that you can find some gems there, but you do have to search them out. I've bought things from there that get lots of 'oh wow' type comments.
