Update to my "Fuck it I'm going retro skin care thread"

So after sourcing the much mourned ponds vanishing cream, and the Himalayas cream cleanser of my youth after the whole, I'd forgotton how good Nivea is revelation.

My skin is brilliant. Really clean, I swear there were pores coming unclogged that had been for years. And really soft, and the vanishing creams gives such a lovely soft matt affect I only wear make up if I want to, not because I have to to combat shine.

As result of the thread I've also gone back to using Vitapointe and Schwartzkopf Gliss on my (bleach damaged) hair as I used it religiously years ago. Hair is much less frizzy and I get loads of compliments on how nice I smell.

I'm really happy, my skins better and my outlays a lot less.

I've still not been brave enough to revist ten o six though Grin Grin

I have always used Nivea in the blue pot, it is great.
Spend shit loads on make up though....

cheapskatemum · 24/06/2014 21:54

I saw those blackhead/pore cleanser strip things for your nose & T zone in Tesco yesterday & thought of your original thread!

HoneyDragon · 24/06/2014 21:58

Oh I still love a good pore strip session. My chemist does then a packet of 5 for a £1.

Are you using Nivea (the one in blue pot) as a cleanser? What do you do massage in and wash/wipe off?

I always thought of this as a moisturer so intrested to give it a go

HoneyDragon · 24/06/2014 22:25

My mum always used as a cleanser at night time so I did. Brace yourself it's very complicated....

I wipe Nivea all over my face including eyes.

I wipe it all off again with toilet paper.

Grin

I don't moisturiser anything as it's nice and rich.

which nivea are you using. I love uncomplicated techniks that promise glowing results so please tell exactly waht pot you use!

plus, what skinn type are you?

Blackcurrentapple · 24/06/2014 22:36

Thanks honey dragon so we are talking the blue pot of thick cream! I used this in my teens as I had stupidly dry skin!

I'm going to give it a go, fed up spending money on new things constantly only to find them rubbish!

HoneyDragon · 24/06/2014 22:38

gamescompendium · 24/06/2014 22:46

E45 is bloody amazing as well, as I discovered after testing it on DS's eczema. It didn't help him but it was great for me (Scottish genes meant I had to finish the pot).

HoneyDragon · 24/06/2014 22:48

That's the bunny. It's too heavy for the morning, but nothing gets make up and other crap off better in the evening.

E45? Hmmmm the tick pot stuff or the tubes stuff?

I think you can still buy Ten-O-Six

Ten O Six

JoyceDivision · 24/06/2014 22:57

right, am buying some tomoz, expect to look like a goddess after a couple of days ( i said the same when i bought my clinique grown up moisturiser, which I have left the packaging box out in the bedroom for dh to notice in case he is stuck for my b'day Grin )

confusion77 · 24/06/2014 23:03

Let me get this straight...instead of washing your face/cleansing/make up removing et al. You slather Nivea on and wipe off?

Will it work for me? (greasy t zone, dry elsewhere, outside a lot year round so sun/cold damage, and get quite dirty?)

HoneyDragon · 24/06/2014 23:08

I don't know, but in regards to working outdoors in the winter I always have a pot by the front door. I make the dc but it on if it's bitterly cold as do I to stop my skin going red and chafing Smile

FriggFRIGG · 24/06/2014 23:32

Oh my god!
The strips! Do they still make those? I need some.

HoneyDragon · 24/06/2014 23:35

Usually have them in pound shops Frigg, my lovely.

They are glorious.

FriggFRIGG · 24/06/2014 23:49

Well,that's tomorrow sorted.

I'm worryingly excited by this.

ihatethecold · 25/06/2014 06:58

I use coconut oil for cleansing.
Cheap as chips.

callamia · 25/06/2014 07:06

I'm using coconut oil too. I bought some for baby massage and am claiming it for myself.

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 25/06/2014 08:49

on the strength of the last thread I bought ten-O-six it smells like a chemistry experiment!

ItHasANiceRingWhenYouLaugh · 25/06/2014 09:25

I bought LipCote on the strength of that thread and it is amazing. Grin Looking for VitaPointe now.

ScrambledSmegs · 25/06/2014 09:35

Nivea, you say? Hmm. I'm using the Boots own cold cream for cleansing at the mo, smells lovely but I find it a bit heavy so have to use a cheap toner after.

But, how do you get over the smell of Nivea? It makes me heave Envy. Would Astral work?
