(Yet another) hair dresser recommendation -London long hair

Hullo all

Sorry for yet another hairdressing thread.

I've got long straight hair. Relatively simple cut. When done well my hair is lovely and 'swishy'. My wonderful wonderful hairdresser left the profession Sad and I've really struggled to find a replacement.

Last haircut was a bit of a disaster - the layers are really really odd and I've spent the last six months wearing it up! It now is in desperate need of a cut.

Essentially I would like someone who can do a really good cut without too much fuss. I don't like too many products on my hair and so someone who will understand that (and not get out the straightners at the drop of a hat) would be a bonus.

I don't have my hair cut that often and don't have it coloured so am prepared splurge for a decent cut. Live in South East London but work in the City so any where in the centre of London is fine.

Where is SE London do you live? Selena at The Curious Comb in Blackheath does a great cut, but dn't let her fob you off on any of her juniors. Otherwise my last haircut was at Taylor Taylor in Shoreditch, I think the stylist was called Michaela. She did the most totally amazing blowdry using a paddle brush and not much heat - my hair looked amazing afterwards.

Brooks and Brooks on Sicilian Avenue in Holborn. Lovely salon for the money.

I have the same hair and will not let anyone but Charmaine at Fresh Aveda in Blackheath touch my hair. She understands long straight hair like no other hairdresser I have ever been to.

is your hair thick too monkeys?

monkeysmama · 19/06/2014 17:33

It's quite thin but there is loads of it! I struggled for years to get a decent cut and really do rate Charmaine.

My hair is so thick, but each hair is fine. Most hairdressers just don't get it. I had a man who understood it perfectly, then he inherited a fortune and retired at 30
