Are they a good thing or a bad thing?
DH is determined to talk me into one, and we've seen quite a nice one but I can't get over the feeling that they are a bit 'bachelor pad'.
What do you think?

I know, it's the comfort factor that attracts me, but I don't want to spend a fortune on something like a sofa that's 'in' now, but will look really dated soon.
I think DH is trying to create the bachelor pad he never had. He wants a flat screen tv, and he spent £200 on a coffee machine recently, argh.

We toyed with the idea of one when we bought new sofas last year but after thinking it through decided against it.

We realised that two seperate sofas ( 3 seater and 2 seater) gave us more flexibility if we decided to move the room around and change things. An L shaped one would only really work in one place in our room.

Also, when the children go to bed DP and I tend to take over a sofa each and "veg out" -didn't think that would work on an L shape

They are a v good use of space if you are short of square footage and need to seat lots of people, but not sure of their appeal otherwise.
Do quite like the ones with a chaise-longuey bit that sticks out thus but tbh a footstool is more versatile.

We had one and got rid of it!It is quite hard to arrange the room around them and no one ever sits in the corner bit so although it says 7 seater we only ever had 3 or 4 on it and it was full! They do look good in the right setting

we have one and we love it! its chocolate brown cordy material. we always sit in the corner bit coz its so comfy! loads of us can fit on it too. its a really big one thats quite deep, so sometimes your feet dangle over the edge and dont touch the floor. all the kids love it too.

KTeepee · 06/09/2006 10:24

I like them but have don't have a room where one would fit (lack of suitable corners) - though if you have a massive living room you could plonk one anywhere (I don't, needless to say!)

AvaLou · 06/09/2006 10:32

We certainly don't have a massive living room, and we're moving soon and not sure where to so we can't buy one yet.
Hopefully he'll have changed his mind by then!
