Please recommend me a hair salon in/near Stourbridge

Hello. I'm moving to Stourbridge, West Midlands soon and will need to find a good salon for cut and colour around that area. I'm happy to drive up to half an hour so can cover quite a large area.

I'm used to a no frills, slightly rough and ready place where I live at the moment, which does just as good a job as the really expensive places I've tried but at a fraction of the price and I'd love to find somewhere similar. I'm certainly not looking for a very trendy "salon experience" (I'm not keen on being fussed over too much then presented with a huge bill at the end), I just want to get in and out quickly and have my hair done well.
Does anyone have any recommendations please?
I'd also like to hear about places to avoid (and why) too!
TIA.

No decent salons in or close to Stourbridge at all? Sad Even knowing which to avoid is useful Smile

It's a bit off the radar...

I don't live in Stourbridge but near blackheath & there are plenty of good salons nearby.
The-salon.net is good.
Do u have a smart phone?
download the nearme app & type in hairdressers when your in Stourbridge & it will give you all the hairdressers near you & where they are on a map.

magictorch · 18/06/2014 16:23

I second The Salon in Blackheath - have been going there years and always been happy.

There's also a salon or two in Merry Hill, Toni & Guy, etc.

LividofLondon · 18/06/2014 18:32

Thanks Angel and magic. The Salon's not too dear either is it Smile
Any horrors to avoid in the area?

It's a bit out of your way but Suyo, in Harborne is excellent (not far from Birmingham city centre if you are there for shopping!). Specifically, Tracy or Emma. Tracy is a proper hairdresser, very knowledgeable about cutting and styling and has a great eye for what suits your face shape. It's about £50 for a cut and blow dry but they do a 50% off on your first visit (on their website) so you can see if it suits. I've been going there for years even though its massively out of my way!

Thanks Nutella Smile

Only 2 places in/near Stourbridge? Surely not Wink Please, any other recommendations or avoids for salons around Stourbridge, Kidderminster, Halesowen, Brierly Hill, etc? It doesn't have to be fancy, just someone who cuts and colours hair well.

Apparently Lisa Shepherd is meant to be good.

Need to get my ass in gear and book a consultation.

Hello again Livid, I contributed to your other thread.

I go to Salon 2000 on The Broadway in Stourbridge, and from what you say I think it would be perfect for you too - comfortable, affordable, unpretentious and welcoming. I had highlights (foils), cut, shampoo and blow dry for £50 with a lovely girl called Jess who has just won a major hairdressing award! They have a nice beauty room in the back too.

LividofLondon · 22/06/2014 20:58

Thanks Chocbic. Found her website and made a note

Sounds good, thanks again Riffy. Silly as it may sound but I feel a little intimidated by ultra trendy salons, as though I don't quite belong, so that sounds idealSmile

I only know a good Gent's barbers in Stourbridge for men and kids. They are very professionals and friendly. It's Number 7 Gent's Barbers 3 Market Street Stourbridge Town. They may help you. They are our family barbers and they are very nice helping the community

A Stourbridge hairdresser as a safe place for parents to bring children

Menarefrommarsitwouldseem · 23/06/2018 11:19

Maybe 20 minutes by car but Amici in Barnt Green.
Use Lisa. She's fab.

MildlyFedUp · 23/06/2018 12:06

This thread is four years old folks, I would hope the op has found a hairdresser by now!

Anyway, I'm from Stourbridge and would be able to name a good many hairdressers to avoid, though not so many to recommend.

DY9 is a good salon in Stourbridge - no frills but they’ve always done a good job.

I use one towards Bridgnorth I think it would be probably top of half an hour for you depending which part of Stourbridge but she’s really good and charges £50 for any colour and cut.

Tulip was also very good.

Greyhound22 · 23/06/2018 17:39

Just realised this is ages old - hope one has been found by now!!
