and would prefer cotton or a non nasty material. Oh, plus I'm 44. Oh yes and I'm short and a little podgy at the moment, 1st overweight. Impossible, I know.

So far in my hunt, yes. Impossible. So hope someone can prove me wrong.

Do you just mean upper arms or any of your arms? Tbh you might end up looking Amish.
I would suggest a very fine merino long sleeve vest in a contrasting colour under dresses with cap sleeves or no sleeves.

IHaveBrilloHair · 15/06/2014 20:28

Can you wear tights/leggings?
I don't show skin either, but have some nice dresses.

TwoInTheMourning · 15/06/2014 20:42

I don't mind showing skin, I just don't want to show my upper arms or my knees because they look disproportionately fat in comparison to the rest of my body. museumum seriously?? and that wouldn't look Amish?????ConfusedConfusedConfusedConfused

Marking place. This should be easy but isn't at all. And no it's not the same as looking Amish Confused. OP didn't ask for a bonnet stockist!

emsyj · 15/06/2014 21:06

Watching with interest! I want a short sleeved, over the knee, preferably cotton or jersey summer dress...

TenMinutesEarly · 15/06/2014 21:19

cromwell44 · 15/06/2014 21:34

Lots of nice dresses on Peopletree site here:
www.peopletree.co.uk/womens/dresses

Nice lengths and many with upper arm coverage.

HenI5 · 15/06/2014 21:34

OP didn't ask for a bonnet stockist!

Now, don't shoot me, this is just an idea.

Do a search on Etsy there are lots of individual and handmade sellers on there, just remember to check their reviews and the shipping cost and returns policy.

This is just an example that fits the longer length, cover arms criteria picked at random. Obviously the colours and the print and style are a matter of personal taste.

There are quite a few sellers specialising in linens and cotton, but I've never tried any myself, I just know the problem finding something for summer that covers the bits you don't want on show.
Sample

Be warned though you can waste hours searching on there Hmm

Next have loads of wrap dresses that come to my knee and I'm 5'6 so might be longer if you're shorter than that. I think they're really flattering.

snice · 15/06/2014 21:40

Can't do links on kindle but there's a good linen shirt dress on boden

emsyj · 15/06/2014 21:40

Oh, there are some really rather nice ones on Peopletree!!

HenI5 · 15/06/2014 21:58

It's hard without having more idea of taste and preferences really, but this
LINK or Pink
could be requested with longer sleeves I would think and a bit longer length if necessary. Shipping is around a tenner by the look and I think I spotted blue option as well.

I think it'd look nice for summer with a special pair of sandals.
