Wedding outfit for my mum

I'm getting married in a few weeks and my mum is panicking about what to wear. She has quite an ethnic, glamorous style but her dresses tend to end up as tablecloths/curtains after she has worn them once!
Shes size eighteen and doesn't have much money. I wondered if anyone could suggest somewhere she could look? Shes tried all the supermarkets.

What's her budget and what length hem and sleeve does she want?

tethersend · 15/06/2014 16:26

any good?

Skinheadmermaid · 15/06/2014 17:05

Oh the monsoon dress is lovely Tethers, thats just her style. Not sure we can afford it though. My own wedding dress was £30, thats about the limit.

What about something from East? £30 will be pushing it but they usually have a sale on about now.

MrsCakesPremonition · 15/06/2014 17:32

This Sainsbury's dress is very similar to the Monsoon one.

MrsCakesPremonition · 15/06/2014 17:45

Or you could have a look on ebay for this sort of style.

tethersend · 15/06/2014 17:45

That sainsburys one is lovely, MrsCakes.

How about eBay?

tethersend · 15/06/2014 17:47

Another nice one here

tethersend · 15/06/2014 17:49

And here

MrsCakesPremonition · 15/06/2014 17:52

Ooh - yes tethers, or this one. In fact there are quite a lot of Monsoon frocks in a size 18 on ebay at the moment, definitely worth a browse.

Or Anna Scholz from Simply Be

How about a dress agency or posh charity shop? I bought both my outfits for my children's weddings from dress agencies and sold them to another one afterwards.

MrsCakesPremonition · 15/06/2014 18:04

Maxi dress

tethersend · 15/06/2014 18:11

Another maxi

There are loads of fab outfits on eBay for weddings. I have just completed a whole matching outfit of "new" or "worn once" for my 2 summer weddings. Compared with the total original cost of £400, I have paid a total of £90 for dress (new) bolero jacket ( worn once to a wedding) shoes (unworn in box) bag (used once) and fascination ( unused)
I plan to wear it to the two weddings and resell it as "worn to 3 weddings only".
