Soooo...if the 80's are back 'in', does that mean it is no longer a fashion disater to wear ankle boots with long (or indeed short) skirts?

Beacsue I have a long skirt to wear tommorrow, but no suitable footwear apart from ankle boots! Heely- ones.
Can I 'pretend' I am being fashionable?!

nooo I saw someone in ankle boots (bright green ones) and a skirt earlier today - it wasn't a good look!

MrsBadger · 06/09/2006 09:01

You may be fashionable but you run the risk of looking short of leg and fat of ankle.
Easier to get away with if boots are same colour as tights, but would still not recommend it.
Only exception is if they are buttoned boots with heels and you're going for full-on Victoriana or they're DMs and you're going for 90s grunge.

HuwEdwards · 06/09/2006 09:03

oh yes, agree with Mrs B

expatinscotland · 06/09/2006 09:04

I saw someone w/this 'look' as well, Stiglet.

She just looked like a prostitute.

No, no, NO!

SSSandy · 06/09/2006 09:11

That is not going to look good, it'll chop you up into unflattering proportions. Fashion is one thing but you have to look good in it

laughinglil · 06/09/2006 09:16

it is definatly the 'in' look but as only a young one myself I will not be following this trend..it looks disgusting.

DaddyCool · 06/09/2006 09:19

before i know it, i'll be wearing a light cotton yellow pastel sport jacket and a white t-shirt.

DaddyCool · 06/09/2006 09:19

maybe not.

CapedCrusader · 06/09/2006 09:20

Would you roll your sleeves up to your elbow though? For full effect.

DaddyCool · 06/09/2006 09:21

abso-bloody-lutely

CapedCrusader · 06/09/2006 09:25

you really are cool, Daddycool.

kimi · 06/09/2006 10:29

oh no not the 80s again, as i grew up in the 80s and wore it all the first time round (new romantic crossed with maddonna) im too old to ware it this time round (sobbing emoticon)

DaddyCool · 06/09/2006 10:33

i actually owned a pastel yellow light cotton sports jacket in a child's size

i wore it to school dances.

LieselVonTrapp · 06/09/2006 10:34

Oh fab I didnt know that - now where are my legwarmers and puffballs.

DaddyCool · 06/09/2006 10:34

i thought i was the spit of don johnson.

JessaJam · 06/09/2006 17:11

Don't panic satorial-monitors, I wore ballet pumps in the end (the other not-really-an-alternative was actually doc martens!!!). Since I am not usually a high-fashion kind of person, I didn't think I would fool anyone, and they would all know the truth (no winter boots!).
