Names and labels to look out for in TK Maxx that are not well known in the UK but that are well known elsewhere?

...and are good quality?

Many are TK Maxx own label -- hence why you have never heard of them.

I like TK Maxx and buy things I like at prices I am comfortable with. I do not believe TK Maxx's suggested RRP for many products but I am generally happy with what I have purchased. The savings they state are over inflated.

FamiliesShareGerms · 14/06/2014 19:08

I never knew that TK Maxx has its own labels too!!

LaFataTurchina · 14/06/2014 21:31

interesting thread

I always go and have a look for cheap geox shoes (Italian brand, very comfy/foot breathy etc but still nice looking) (although, i'm pretty sure there are geox shops in the uk too so you may well have heard of them)

Nanageddon100 · 14/06/2014 21:35

Very few that aren't made by TK in one guise or another as Mirpuppet has said. Also the brands that you do recognise are often specially made for outlets.

TheWordFactory · 14/06/2014 21:36

Be very careful, amongst the bargains are many TK own brands which are ...ahem...less than high quality for bargainous prices.

I stick with brands I recognise. Always.

libertytrainers · 14/06/2014 21:38

there was a doc that listed all the own brands so unless you couldn't care less, you have to be picky

i have got some great levi/esprit/sevenforallmanking/ralp lauren stuff though, you have to just watch for brands you know. i think people can judge quality of stuff

BobPatandIgglePiggle · 14/06/2014 21:40

Just buy what you like. Labels aren't important unless, for example, you find that Levi jeans are a perfect fit and always look out for them.

Ooh good thread.

DD found a gorgeous Super Dry top for £16 today. Lovely quality fabric.

Icantcook · 14/06/2014 21:41

Yes I saw that doc too. What I meant were US brands and European brands that are well known in their territory but not over here

Interesting link there, thanks. I recognise Amphora from that list as a brand I have seen recently.
I've bought a couple of Amari and Malvin dresses recently, they are decent quality and quite inexpensive.

Holdthepage · 14/06/2014 21:44

TV programme not so long ago that showed TK Maxx were selling mostly their own stuff under designer brand names that no one had ever heard of.

Also their well known designer brands consisted mostly of items that were specially made for TK Maxx & no where near the same quality as that being sold on the high street.

You get what you pay for.

ThePerfectNegroni · 14/06/2014 21:45

I knew this and I also know that some of the stuff is made especially for them. They always have Osprey bags in, and Osprey make a lower quality bag for them to be sold only in their shops.

TheWordFactory · 14/06/2014 22:08

I think te TK Osprey stuff is called Osprey London.

I don't know about the quality TBH.

I still think they have some good stuff, though; I went in last week and there were Birkenstocks and Superdry tees.

Also, the cosmetics had St Trop and Fake Bake stuff. The candle department had Calvin Klein and Yankee.

goodasitgets · 14/06/2014 22:09

I got an anne klein dress for £18 Shock
It is so beautifully cut and lined and fits like it's made for me
Mainly I go for beauty/hair stuff though

I have two pairs of Diesel 'Grupee' jeans, RRP £245 and £145. Both £30 and perfect. No complaints here - Grupee is a current fit and my fave, I have paid £130 for Diesel jeans in the past and stalk my local TK for them. I also have stuff by Splendid, Theory and Zoe Karssen. And Bloch ballet flats for £20 rather than £120.

I'm a big fan of TK Maxx, yes they sell loads of their own brands but so what? Either buy stuff cos you like it, or cos you know the brand means good quality or whatever. RRP means little. My local has quite a few bits of Karl - by Karl Lagerfeld stuff - tux jackets, trousers and polyester shirts, which are crap at £200 or £20.

Fram · 14/06/2014 22:41

I get bags, good bags with soft buttery leather. I don't actually care which brand, it's more about the feel. However, I have had in the past fantastic Coccinelle and Francisco Biasia bags from TKMaxx.

They often have Merrell coats, and I have in the past got Ralph Lauren for a song, but that was before they got huge over here.

New Balance running shoes are good. Maggy London dresses are good.
I have also seen stuff by Blumarine and Costume National, Betsey Johnston, Kate Spade.
