Shops in Central London with maternity clothes. You know, actually IN the shop.

I'll be in London tomorrow for a work thing near Embankment, finishing around 4pm. The maternity clothes shopping options near my home town are minimal (H&M. That's it) and I'm so, so sick of the continual disappointment of online shopping when most of the stuff I'm receiving is either frumpy or sized very strangely.

So, please, do any MNers know of high street stores (my budget is far from large, which is another part of the problem!) near-ish to Embankment or Westminster with maternity clothes on the actual shop floor?

Nope. I trawled Oxford Street...... only the H and M halfway down Regent St near Hamleys had a few bits and the massive Primark had about 3 pairs of jeans and a nasty dress.
Top Shop at Oxford circus has a small selection hidden away in the corner of the basement and nothing at all in the big New Look or even Mothercare
In Next and Gap they told me that no stores stock maternity anymore and it is all online

HamAndPlaques · 11/06/2014 21:50

Sorry, no. Tiny selection in topshop oxford circus, slightly better in H&M regent street. Agree with fred - it's all gone online.

A few on Kensington church street off High street Kensington ( when I last looked)

Artandco · 11/06/2014 21:56

Sorry, they are also pricey and not close to embankment

littlegreengloworm · 11/06/2014 21:57

It's dreadful op. oif you buy online, size down

I think it's shocking we cannot shop instore for maternity wear.

Are you talking about Seraphine (www.seraphine.com/kensington-boutique), Art? The H&M on High St Ken also has a small maternity range in the basement. A pregnant friend found a few good things at Cos, for work. Cos has just gone on sale.

Oh shit! I really thought London would be the answer

Thanks anyway everyone, so glad I asked before bothering to try loads of shops tomorrow. I'll find somewhere nice for a long cold (nonalcoholic) drink and sit-down instead.

Have you tried ASOS? You could be drinking while doing an online shopping order that will arrive at your place about the time that you return.

I really recommend having a look in Cos, at the Piccadilly Circus end of Regent Street. It's not, I don't think, proper maternity wear, but it does stylish unstructured clothes that would be wearable with a bump. Eg

Artandco · 11/06/2014 22:29

Belinda - yes seraphine. There's also an independent place

Ilovemydogandmydoglovesme · 11/06/2014 22:30

Don't Next still have maternity stuff in store?

rightsaidfred · 11/06/2014 22:53

None of the Oxford Street Next do- and when I asked I was told it is all online. Mind you the same shop assistant told me that the reason is that nobody wears maternity clothes anymore they just buy a bigger size.......

ThisBitchIsResting · 11/06/2014 23:16

Isabella Oliver are having a clearance sale ATM with some bargains - stripey ruched dresses £20 reduced from £90. Online.

And yes to Asos - I got some lovely French Connection maternity bits from there.
