What has fucked up my hair? Please help!

I have fine, annoyingly slightly waved hair which is suddenly very bad condition - fluffy and frizzy. The ends are not split, but all weirdly wobbly and kinked.

I usually have a Brazilian blow dry but the last one was February so any effects from that will be gone. It works really well for me, not exactly straightening my hair, but making it behave much better.

I also have my hair dyed at the hair dresser, all over chestnut, with some bits lightened then reddened. I last had this done 10 days ago and all the colour is nearly gone Shock grrrrr.

In between my last hair appointments I also put a box of colour on, just brown, no lightening or anything.

I use BBH and straighteners to get it to sit right.

So, which one of these is the culprit and what should I do - or not do?

You are doing a LOT to your hair - I feel quite sorry for it! Can you try one of those intensive conditioners you leave on and then give your hair a rest from the heat/colours for a while?

yes, it does look a lot written down.

Are there gentle hair dyes out there?

Cut it as short as you dare to get rid of all the dead ends and condition it well over the summer & avoid doing anything for a few months if youcan. I use coconut oil on my hair and it washes out lovely & soft.

What do you do with the coconut oil?

Just use it like a conditioner? Isn't it terribly greasy?

I get the superdrug coconut oil in a white pot for about 2 & use it like an intensive hair mask. Wash it out with a bit of shampoo & your hair should feel softer.

It doesn't sound dry, it sounds brittle. I second a good cut, then a protein treatment. It is over processed- colouring, heat all do this. I like redken extreme shampoo and conditioner.

When you go for "moisturising" avoid all silicone- it coats the hair making it drier in the end because you seal the moisture out.

Just to add- the colour washed out because your hair is porous, which is making me think protein over moisture. At the moment you are risking a lot of breakage if you do much to it when it is wet. Gently wash, don't comb it, don't vigorously towel dry etc

Have you thought about using henna instead of hair dye? Lush do a range of colours and you can mix them up too. Much, much kinder to your hair.
