DS1 recently started nursery at the local primary school (we are in Scotland) and they have an optional sweatshirt here so he wears that with a cheapy white polo and woolies teflon coated trousers with elasticated waist - he was just 3 in August and has managed fine with his clothes after using the toilet (a concern I had). He loves nursery so much he has asked if he can go evry day - I was only going to put him 3 days a week at the moment but might just let him go every day! Not sure if it will be too tiring though!

DD1 was 3 in June and also started here in Scotland.

She asked all weekend when she was going to nursery school!

schneebly · 04/09/2006 12:52

How many days does DD go expat?

expatinscotland · 04/09/2006 12:54

All 5. She goes to St. Mary's down the road from us and loves it!

Nemo1977 · 04/09/2006 12:55

ds is just wearing his normal clothes maybe some of the scruffier bits so if he gets paint on them I dont care.

Nemo1977 · 04/09/2006 12:57

sorry ds is in playschool not preschool...whats the difference????

in ds nursery when he goes next year he has to wear a jog suit with school badge on and polo shirt

schneebly · 04/09/2006 12:57

Glad she loves it expat - DS likes his nursery teacher - this morning he told me she has nice hair! I think I will just let him go for the 5 days. It is only 2.5 hours at a time so not too much I guess.

MamaG · 04/09/2006 12:59

Schneebly, when DD turned 3 in August, she started 5 mornings a week 3 weeks after that and she was fine. If he's enjoying himself, he'll be great

tassis · 04/09/2006 12:59

Like expat, we're in Scotland and ds (aged 3) has 5 2.5 hour sessions at pre-school nursery.

They have very cute red polo shirts and red sweaters (not compulsary) that they wear over their play clothes so ds is still wearing mostly shorts with them at the moment, but probably not for much longer!

They encourage them to change shoes into gym shoes, but don't think all do.

schneebly · 04/09/2006 13:01

That is good to know MamaG - I think he will cope with it well TBH. It just means I will have to be really organised every morning!

MamaG · 04/09/2006 13:01

Oh, before you know it, you'll do the morning routine with your eyes closed

schneebly · 04/09/2006 13:04

I need to be more organised now anyway with my course officially starting today! I cant get logged on though Grrrrr

Winter can be a pain. Difficult to make a little kid budge when it's pitch black outside. Nine isn't too bad. I have to leave at 7.30 these days to get dd to school by 10 to 8 and I am not enjoying it.

I always sent my DS to pre school in certain clothes. (I bought a couple of sweathirts, and only put him in old or not particularly nice joggers/trousers. I never sent him in 'nice' stuff. It just wasnt worth it. He always came home filthy.

ledodgyrobespierre · 04/09/2006 18:41

My dd starts preschool nursery on Wednesday and has a compulsary uniform! It consists of a navy school logo sweat shirt, a white school logo polo shirt and navy jogging bottoms. I don't mind the uniform so much but think it's ridiculous that she has to wear black school shoes for nursery, not only are they expensive but they look bloody stupid with navy jogging bottoms!
