My amazing bargain Ash Jalouse have arrived, and I don't love them like I thought I would

I snapped up the last pair in Office, in black, size 40. They're beautiful, lovely soft black suede, nice wear on the toes, shiny black heel at just the right height and they were 88 quid including postage...

BUT they're just a bit too loose round the heel and come up a teeny bit too high on the leg. To my utter disgust I prefer the grey suede Western boots in Marks, although I'd rather not have a wooden heel and to buy them would violate my resolution never, ever to buy from Marks again after the shitty way they treated me last time something went wrong.

I don't want to give up a bargain but they've been sitting on top of my wardrobe for a week and I haven't worn them yet, which is pretty telling. Even at half price, they're not cheap.

I need to return them, don't I?

Yes. You do. Return them now and get your money back, or, a year from now, they'll till be sitting there, unworn, and you'll end up giving them to a friend for nothing.
I've done that on more than one occasion! Blush

Yes. Buying something or keeping something just because it's a bargain is really daft. I should know. Grin

You can always depend on MN for the voice of reason (and bitter experience).

Right, I will.

I will send them back on Monday. Unless any MNer wants them for the same price I paid? They're discontinued now, so if someone wants to benefit from the bargain I'm happy to pass them on.

Think of bargain = low cost per wear. Therefore if you wear them twice, that's £44 a wear. Not bargainous!

That also helps justify expensive purchases you genuinely love and will wear all the time. Ta da!

I usually do think of it that way, you're right. I just expected to love these and was really surprised when I didn't. Sad

I'm terrible for this, buying longed for bargains and then them not living up to expectations. No amount of squinting at yourself in them in the mirror will make them look like they do in your head!
The good news with these particular boots is that there are loads of copies about (the Ash ones are only copies of Isabel Marant ones anyway). I'm an awful brand snob, but I have to keep telling myself no-one can see the label when you're wearing them, they either suit you or they don't.
