Where do you go for good quality but inexpensive basics?

That's it really. I'm looking for t-shirts. I'm trying to budget but want them to be reasonable quality - to have a decent fit and fabric and hold their shape when washed.

I hope someone posts a reply here. I'm looking for inexpensive t shirts as well - ones with a proper short sleeve rather than cap sleeves, which I hate.

Uniqlo t shirts are good quality, wash well and have sleeves.

I was going to say uniqlo too. I get loads of stuff from there and most of it has lasted well.

GAP really, although their sizing is all over the place

Floisme · 06/06/2014 07:00

I don't think you can settle on one place any more. Stores change their suppliers all the time and the quality changes with it. For basics, I switch mainly between Uniqlo and H&M but they can both be very random, quality wise. Sainsbury's Ts can be ok although other stuff I have bought there has turned out to be shite. And don't forget TK Maxx.

H&M - quality can vary but plain vests and tshirts generally good. I also quite like the asos own brand ones - thinner than H&M so nice for layering, but not as good quality.

I second Gap, but agree sizing is mad - you need to go down about 2 sizes, but they wash and retain their shapre really well. Also, I've bought some nice basic t-shirts in Primark. They do a good ramge of colours at £2 - variety of shapes, some with stretch etc. I go to H&M for vests as they are much longer than most.

How about [http://www.amazon.co.uk/Fruit-Loom-Lady-Fit-Valueweight-T-Shirt/dp/B00BGVE7MY/ref=sr_1_3?s=clothing&ie=UTF8&qid=1402038850&sr=1-3&keywords=t-shirt+fruit+of+the+loom Fruit of the Loom]]?

I bought Boden T shirts this year. With special offers they were about £12 each but worth it as they wash well and are a reasonable length.
