www.tarastarlet.com/shop/marina-dress
It's my 40th soon and I really like this dress and have shoes already but it's no longer available in my size (8) in this colour combo. They still have it in maroon but to me that's school uniform colour.

Have you seen anything similar anywhere? I don't usually wear 50s inspired stuff but think this dress is great.

This whistles dress is kind of similar in shapewww.whistles.com/women/clothing/dresses/pelt-print-silk-dress.html?dwvar_pelt-print-silk-dress_color=Grey%2FMulti#start=1but I can't pay this price!

Thank you!

Cos have a couple in a similar shape - here and here but they aren't so 50's looking.

Have a look at Dig for victory

Try Eliza J at house of Fraser (sorry on phone so can't link)

theidsalright · 04/06/2014 18:55

I've tried them both, the first one loose and sack like (in that cool cos way), the second more work wearish but short. . .

Thanks tho!

Oh thats lovely

theidsalright · 04/06/2014 18:58

Thanks for the dig for victory link, dresses are great, need to see if I can get my head around the fabrics!

Actually they may be too evening wear in that fabric. I know it's my 40th but that might be being a bit too mature. I'm having an indie disco :)

Amazon have loads of cotton 50s style vintage dresses. Have just ordered one. Now considering a petticoat...

tethersend · 04/06/2014 20:07

I like this

theidsalright · 04/06/2014 22:45

Stairs, are they all floral? I can't do floral. . .

Second link seems to be a uk stockist

drbartlet · 05/06/2014 20:04

trixymalixy · 05/06/2014 20:38

Buy it in a 10 and have it taken in.

theidsalright · 06/06/2014 08:24

I'm really grateful everyone.

I think I may have to hit the high street and start trying things on, I really get no inspiration from dresses on websites and although there are lots similar to the tara starlet one, none are really as nice. I may give up on the shape!

OP posts:
trixymalixy · 06/06/2014 09:47

It would only cost about £15 to have it taken in.

Otherwise have you actually phoned them? Sometimes the stock levels on the website are wrong.
