Giant rugby player shoulders - halterneck dresses out, what is in?

I have been blessed by the gods of genetics with small boobs and giant shoulders. Hmm

Am looking for summer dresses now it's finally stopped raining. Strappy dresses look like a couple of bits of string abandoned in the sahara desert; I think halternecks are out (although I could maybe get a 'yes, i have giant shoulders - so?' thing going on); what should I be looking for?

This sort of thing? Am I stuck with cap sleeves forever? My arms aren't too flabby, I have been working out and losing weight, but that is only worsening the shoulder issue. Sigh. Any advice?

Same here. Though my shoulders are more just broad than muscles ;)

the dress you linked to would probably work on the basis that it balances you out, as the bottom of it is flared, ifyswim?

watching this thread for interesting suggestions! I usually do cap sleeves or 3/4 length sleeves, with a deep v neck - seems to work for me. Not very summery, but feeling comfortable with what I'm wearing is the aim of the game.

I've got the same issue

Thanks for links, fizzyplonk, Monsoon seem to have that annoying thing where links just go to their front page but I found the dresses by item number. I like the first one on your list best, I see what you mean about wider straps.

I should mention that I have a huge bum too, so maxi dresses are also out as it makes me look like I'm smuggling a pair of baby hippos under my skirt Grin

Daryl I may have given a misleading impression of my fitness level there; there is a considerable amount of flab, just less than there was!

I also have broad shoulder and ribs (and skinny legs) and this kind of dress works well (in a shorter version)

Pannacotta, I think your first recommendation is the worst thing for broad shoulders - that sort of top makes me look like a wrestler.

The second one is better, though. I also find tops with a slash neck and cap sleeves work well.
