Shorts for almost 40 for holiday -yay /nay ?

Nice, non pleated semi fitted , mid thigh but not granny /american tourist ?
Haven't worn shorts for ages , I'm almost 40 size 12/14 with very long legs . Too old ?

Sounds good to me, a smart tailored short is hard to get wrong, and if you have long legs even better! I'm a size 10-12 and have a few pairs of mid-thigh length shorts and I don't feel too exposed, or muttony in them, I'm 47.

And at what age should we stop wearing shorts? Wear what you like when you like.

I'm 50 and I have just bought a new pair of shorts for my holiday.

They are from Gap and 4inch inseam so pretty short. I have lost a lot of weight (they are Gap size 4!! woohoo!!) so I reckon they are OK. For the beach only.

I dont care what my legs look like tbh and they arent exactly slim and beautiful given I had to get size 20 shorts

I am intending them holiday only shorts , to and after the beach .
Usually I would wear a dress .
Anywhere else than GAP to look ?

it's about how you look in them rather than what age you are. I wear very short shorts round the house and only vaguelly longer to go out but Ive spent hours at the gym to try and have decent legs. I'm 39

I'm 42 and love wearing shorts! But I do have slim toned legs thanks to years of swinging kettlebells. I would recommend Boden's Bistro shorts. They are sooo flattering! I don't have legs as slim as yours, so I wear just below knee shorts which suit me.

I'm 48 and a size 18. As soon as the sun comes out, so do the shorts. I feel comfortable in them which is all that matters. Anyone who is traumatised by the sight of my pasty fat thighs can just close their eyes or get counseling.

If in a place with sunshine and other tourists, there is no age limit for shorts. Nor any ruling that you have to have decent legs.

I'm well into my fifties. From the knees up, my legs don't cut it any more however, when I'm on holiday, the world just has to put up. Same with my arms.

Its just that all the shorts I've seen for the past few years are tiny (more like pants). Its been a while since I have bought them , aside gym ones.
Going on a sunny hol and fancy a few pairs if I can find them in a non bum showing length.

I'm 49, 5'9'', size 22 and still wear shorts! My out-and-about ones are knee length. My garden ones are mid-thigh.

I like them, feel comfortable in them and don't worry about others' opinions!

Shorts are a hot weather basic. In hot countries people are wearing them into their dotage. Yay from me.
