I'm skinny with fat knees and cankles - wtf can I wear?

Would love a dress but lengths and appropriate shoes mean generally frumpsville and I end up in trousers (again) or feeling like shit.

Shoes are a major problem. Definitely NO ankle straps.

Varicose veins and thread veins don't help matters much either.

Oh, and psoriasis under toenails limits the sandal possibilities (though can be partially covered up by nail polish if not too gnarly)

Any suggestions or should I just get my coat?

Trinny has the same issues...Google for 12 million ideas?
I can't wear ankles straps either as highlights my massive honey ankles and giant feet they are blardy everywhere this season

EddieStobbart · 29/05/2014 23:33

Just googled Trinny to see if her style could be the answer - I can see no sign of a cankle! If that's what is viewed as cankles I really am absolutely fucked!

How about maxi skirts?

murphys · 30/05/2014 08:15

Maxi skirts or maxi dresses. I have the same leg issues and I do not possess one skirt or dress that isn't floor length. I wear sandles with them usually or a pair of wedges with no ankle strap. You can get sandles with a closed bit on the toe, thinking like Chinese slipper type shoes....

BravePotato · 30/05/2014 08:21

Just over the knee dress/skirt, and mid heel pumps/wedges/ballet flats. Keep shoes simple, no straps.

FWIW, men don't notice cankles, just another thing for women to fret about for no good reason!

I happily flash my veiny legs in summer.

Casually there's lots of lovely maxi dresses. As you're slim those ones with horizontal stripes or belted closer fitting ones would be good. I like tne pumps that are evrywhere but I am shameless, my toenails regularly fall off and I just paint one in its place- no one notices!
I like a maxi skirt withnside slits as you dont notice cankles from the side.
for work and smarter I have worn longer pencil skirts with mules, I avoid anything other than wedge heels.

EddieStobbart · 30/05/2014 11:07

Defineme, I love your toenail trick! My friend once suggested I did that with my really bitten figure nails but I thought that might be one step too far!

I have a couple of maxi skirts but we had a wave of glam women being hired a few years ago and they often come in v dressed up. I in no way want to try to compete but with the bar being set so high now I do feel a bit scruffy. Maxi skirts would look a bit out of place in my office and I'd just love one "go to" smarter fat-knee-cankle-friendly dress in my wardrobe.

Wedges tend to fall off my feet with the weight of the heel, any recommended brands?

Pointy toe shoes, surprisingly, make a massive difference. Saw the tip somewhere and was surprised when I tried a round toe shoe on one foot and pointy one in other.
