Effaclar duo - please tell me it gets better?!

I have been using effaclar duo for about 2 weeks now. My skin has never been worse! I seem to be getting loads more spots than before - the only difference now is that they seem to come to a head quicker rather than stay like lumps like they did before.

Help! Should I persevere?

I'm another fan. I think my skin got slightly worse for about four weeks. Now it's the best it's ever been. I still get the odd minor blemish around that time of the month, but normally I now go out without any foundation and feel confident doing so.

They also have a tinted version if you need some help hiding your skin until it clears up but don't want to layer on foundation.

It won't necessarily be right for everyone though!

OMG I also had issues with the fish oil!!

It's a real shit isn't it?! It's the last thing you'd expect to be the culprit!

I know take this they said, it's amazeballs they said. Have massive sore pizza face said no one ever. Pffffff fish.

I spent 15 years with acne on my chin and tried every cleanser and treatment. The only thing that worked for me is giving up dairy, it's literally magical. Now my skin is clear. I had a binge on cheese for two days last week and the spots came back, this also happened before when I ate yoghurt, so I know it's definitely the dairy.

Spots on the chin are linked to a hormone imbalance, so I suppose it makes sense that the milk of a lactating, recently pregnant cow would send your hormones wild.

Hi there.. i realize this is 6 years too late.. i wonder if the effaclar duo started helping afterwards. Im also experiencing dryness itchy skin and pimples more than before.. does it get better later on? Id appreciate your help

Jas51234 · 30/01/2021 10:54

Hi there,
Im currently going through what I assume to be the ‘purging’ stage. I was just curious with your own personal experience as you seem to be the most recent post. It feels like my pimples have gotten very intense and persistent. I only ever used to have a couple of pimples, but i had quite textured skin. However, I’m two weeks into using the product and it looks like I’ve got full acne.

I find Duo OK, but I actually think Paula's Choice Azelaic Acid Booster has made more difference.

Honestly though, I had to get IV antibiotics for a tooth infection in December, and I think this had the best effect on my skin.

Please i need to check, my skin started to break out a week after using Effaclar Duo+
Is it normal? My skin's never been worse, and whenever i put the cream my pimples feel kinda tingly and itchy, they're painful to touch as well.
I just wanna confirm if always like that upon the first use or should i stop? I can't even leave the house because of my face rn

Fluffycloudland77 · 18/02/2022 09:47

Stop using it, you shouldn’t be trapped in the house due to your skin.

I’m on antibiotics for my skin again due to working in healthcare and wearing a mask all day.

I really like it. Did get worse for a few week but now excellent. I use cereve SA cleanser daily and only effaclar when skin is about to get spotty in menstrual cycle. It definitely heals spots quicker. I started using 3 years ago due to big painful headless jawline spots which have gone now

I've been using the set for a month now. I bought the tester to try it out it was fine, wasn't bad or wasn't good. I decided to buy the trio since it was working fine but after 4 weeks of using my skin started to breakout really bad with dryness. So I'm thinking maybe to stop since the purging only started a month after which i don't think its normal. It also burns my skin a bit when i put the contentrate.
