Skinny jeans for large waist and no bum!

TKKW · 28/05/2014 15:10

Im looking for postpartum skinny/ straight leg jeans. I'm 5 ft 8 and at the moment and have a stone to lose before Im back to old weight and able to fit in old stuff.

I have had some success with Dorothy perkins jeans in the past but the ones I got after DC1 are worn out and Im wearing them a my "home" jeans. I need a smart pair for being out in town/baby groups.

Budget is about £30.

I have no bottom, slim (ish) thigh and need room at knees as even if they are stretch, they seem to fall down on me and I notice pulling at the knees.

Ive ordered tonnes from New Look but none quite right and bought 4 pairs which I now need to return in Dorothy Perkins but not right either.

Help!

Tried Sainsburys and Next ??

I also need a pair of these magic jeans! This aspect of my figure seems to be worse post preg. I am pre preg weight but my skinny jeans look terrible. I have no bum so they always slip down and when I was toned I just accepted them sitting lower on hips. Now they form a terrible muffin when they ride down.

I bought some skinny really stretchy ones from Next. They said they were a jegging but had proper zip and button fly. They were mid rise which I thought might be more flattering than hipster. But they still slide down! They look very unflattering on my midriff when they do this as cut the widest part instead of sitting on waist.

Hope you find an answer!

Relaxed skinnies from Next are worth a try. Suit me, fat belly and no bum.

Anjelika · 28/05/2014 16:30

Haven't tried Sainsburys but I would definitely second Next. I am 4 years post partum but still have a large waist (or rather tummy) and no bum. Out of the current range at Next I have the Lift Slim & Shape Slim jeans which I really like. I just don't suit skinny jeans so have found these to be the best for my shape. They stay up really well and are not too high waisted for me. The "Sexy High Waist" range don't do anything for me - they just look a bit odd - but I suggest you order a few styles from there to see what suits best. Most of their jeans are good for apple shapes like me.

boringlivingroom · 28/05/2014 16:33

Don't do it. Try different jeans.

cece · 28/05/2014 20:57

I have some from Sainsburys and they seem to fit OK but after a couple of days wear do need washing as the bum goes a bit lose.

missorinoco · 28/05/2014 21:01

Oasis? I have that shape and am a long way post partum. I gave up on Next jeans, they look great for the first few weeks then stretch at the waist and fall off. The crux was when the DC could pull them down whilst pulling to stand on my legs. Not a good look.

LovelyWeatherForDucks · 28/05/2014 21:12

I am a similar shape, I only have Gap and H&M jeans! I can recommend Gap forever stretch (about £50 but they have 30% off at the mo) - they come in S/M/L so no messing about with working out sizing! H&M are good but tend to stretch/sag quite quickly.

Honsandrevels · 28/05/2014 21:16

H&M ones are great but the sizing is odd. I've three pairs of their skinny jeans in different colours and they all fit differently Confused

TKKW · 29/05/2014 09:19

Thanks everyone. Another pair arrived yesterday from Asos, too small at waist. So annoying, a size 12 fitted ok everywhere apart from the waist and even then, they will stretch out a bit after a wear of a few hours but a 14 would be huge!

im going to order a good few pairs from Next i think. No way will i attempt a trip to the shop with a 3 year old and a 4 week old!

Im at a bit of a loss as to what other fitted jeans to try. Dont want boyfriend or bootleg as i want to have a little bit of shape, so thought straight leg might be the way forward.

Try Linea from House of Fraser. The denim is better quality and they have some in the sale at the moment. They actually reach waist height! The Next jeans are ok on the leg but they are all low rise and when I bend over I have a builders bum!

Universal · 29/05/2014 09:29

Linea Weekend ladies straight leg jeans are £33
Sorry I can't do links but have a look on their website.

TKKW · 29/05/2014 09:33

Right, will have a look.

Getting a bit desperate as my mum has kindly arranged for us (aunties/grandparents/DH) all to have a family portrait photo taken this weekend and it was only booked last weekend.

Was thinking about nice billowing loose blouse, heels and jeans.

Red herring at Debenhams super skinnies (they don't fit like super skinny, not too tight) work for me

Universal · 29/05/2014 09:41

I'm the same shape as you and spent the first few weeks after childbirth in t shirts. I wanted to look smarter and bought a load of clothes from House of Fraser website. The Linea weekend collection really suits my shape and I feel so much smarter and better about myself in well fitted jeans and a blouse. I can only wear flats though!

Ladyhaha · 29/05/2014 10:41

I'm the same shape and have found Asda and Tesco super skinnies brilliant. So comfortable, wash well and only about £15!

Charmingbaker · 29/05/2014 10:47

I'm the se shape and the only ones I can wear are DP skinny and Boden skinny and super skinny. I wear DP at home and Boden when out and about. They are a bit over your budget but you can normally find a 20% off code and I find them much better quality than DP.

codandchipstwice · 29/05/2014 12:33

See I find Boden awful - all hip and thigh and no waist - so end up looking like a pear with a muffin top - when actually hip and things my better points.

I have found next passable although too low rise really - sainsburys boyfriend jeans are actually a shapely fitted/tapered - and I have never been able to get Gap to fit as am definitely in between their two sizes (and again seem to be for pears more than apples)

Watching with interest

I wanted to share some jeans shopping notes.

i bought 4 pairs of skinny (which to me are really stretchy straight leg) today in Tesco and have ordered 4 more online which will arrive tomorrow.

Two of the styles i chose seem to work well for a person with only a few inches difference between waist and hips.

My favourite were these:

www.clothingattesco.com/jeans/f+f-mid-wash-vintage-skinny-jeans/invt/jl411189

They are very stretchy as are cotton/poly/elastane which i find much better than 98% cotton, 2 % elastane.

Anyways, I seem to be making progress!

Thanks for your ideas.
