Hair...to chop or not to chop?

Consulting MN to help me with a dilemma. I have long hair with a side fringe. There's a lot of it. I am lazy and as such it is often a bit wild.

Considering getting it chopped into a messy bob. Chin lengthish. I've had hair that short before and liked it.

Had mixed RL responses ranging from horror to encouragement. I'm late twenties. Not sure where I'm going with my hair and am a bit bored. But worried if I go for the drastic chop I'll regret it.

So what do most people prefer? Long or short? Here's a picture of the back of my head.

Is it wavy and thick? I've got wavy thick hair and a bob is a disaster for me - the tousled messy look I envisaged actually just resulted in my hair sitting too far put at the sides like some sort of helmet. Was much much harder work than having long hair and didn't look as nice either.

I cut all mine off and regretted it, it took ages to grow back.

treaclesoda · 28/05/2014 13:45

Oh sorry, just realised you've had it shorter before so presumably you know how it will behave Blush

Go for it then! Sounds nice.

treacle, yes it is. What you've described is my fear exactly.

I have had it shorter but not in a 'tousled' style. So it may still be a disaster.

AutumnStar · 28/05/2014 14:14

I'd just get it chopped to collarbone length maybe Google Freja Beha - hers used to be like that. No idea what her hair is like now but I remember looking when there was an ad with her in
