As above, I'm going to one on Saturday, the weather looks like it's going to be quite good, I don't want a maxi dress. I'm normally a skinny jeans and a top type girl but I feel like I want to go for something different. I'm going shopping tomorrow and can get to most high st shops. I'm early 30s size 10

help please

Have you tried Gap? They usually do great casual sundresses?

Valdeeves · 27/05/2014 23:46

French connection also have a lovely pink poppy print cami at the moment.

I'm a style ponce but my no no no no is flower prints to garden parties

FranksWife · 28/05/2014 06:20

I went to one last year and one lady wore white trousers and white cas/smart thin knit top - she looked v stylish

Littlepinkpear · 28/05/2014 08:46

Silk patterned trousers from oasis and denim t shirt or silk top?

Block heel sandals or wedges?

trousers

top

Start with the shoes. If it really is standing around on a lawn, you'd be best with flats or wedges. I'd avoid white on practical grounds (maybe it's just me that's a stain magnet!)

Bright coloured skinnes and a sheer overhsirt over a cami?

WillieWaggledagger · 28/05/2014 08:54

i'm going to exactly the same on saturday too (well, it's also a smart casual garden party - not sure if it is the same one!)

although it looks sunny it doesn't look that warm, so i'm going with black skinny jeans (sorry), silky top and jersey jacket with silver pointy slingback flat pumps

Eggwhisk · 28/05/2014 09:30

I like the sound of your outfit willie that's the kind of thing I normally wear, maybe I should just stick to what I know. I do like the oasis trousers that little linked to though.

I think there are going to be garden games like croquet and badminton so heels probably aren't the best idea.

How about these shoes? I love them, and they also come in black www.atterleyroad.com/sabrina-taupe-gladiator-wedge-4.html

Pear - that denim top you linked to is really cute.

SocialMediaAddict · 28/05/2014 21:15

Love that denim top.

Littlepinkpear · 30/05/2014 15:23

I have the denim top without a zip, but there is a zip back option too. The trousers are really nice in the flesh but viscose. I have got a pair and they are nice for the money.
