Anyone want to help an odd shaped tall gal out of a rut?

I'm thin-ish (usually size 8 top, 10 bottom depending on the shop/style) but I've got a wibbly stomach so almost always have at least a bit of a muffin top.
I'm 5'8" with stupidly long arms and legs.
I've got skinny but very broad shoulders.
No tits, no arse whatsoever, and really wide hip bones.
Oh, and bunions so can't do flip flops or sandals.

I want easy, casual, day to day stuff that I could possibly dress up for the pub if needs be.
I'm sick of looking plain!

how about maxi dresses with wedges? try halter neck or thin straps, not bandeau. I think wide skinny shoulders look great in a halter
something like this asos sorry it's sold out in your size! but that could be dressed up with a jacket/blazer for evening

Lioninthesun · 28/05/2014 10:05

GAP Tall is usually recommended on here for us lanky longlegs!!

peasandlove · 28/05/2014 10:17

this is cute dorothy perkins
I'm sure you can wear most things .. what do you wear now?

peasandlove · 28/05/2014 10:21

something like this? asos kimono

RandallFloyd · 28/05/2014 12:13

Ooh, helpers! Thank you!

I love that ASOS dress, Peas, but my hip bones really are sticky outy so if dresses aren't stretchy they strain round my hips and gape round my waist. (Told you, odd shaped)
The Dorothy Perkins one is lovely, would I be able to wear a belt with it do you think?
I've never even entertained the idea of a kimono! I really like that one actually though. They look quite day time/night time too.

I didn't know Gap did tall, that's handy to know.

As regards what I normally wear. I really am stuck in a rut.

I wear skinny jeans and t-shirts/vest and, if cold, a hoodie.
On my feet it's either flat knee highs or converse.

If it's with the boots I go plain t-shirt and scarf.
If it's trainers I go band t-shirt.

But it never seems to look 'together' on me. I always feel scruffy.

My current pub outfit is black skinnies with brown belt, black fitted t-shirt, These boots and This cardie

I also wear skater type dresses with the flat knee high boots.

I have this dress in no less than 3 colours!

Ho about a silk top for going out - an easy wash one if you can find it Grin You can wear it with a long skirt for a floaty look or skinny indigo jeans and boots for the pub? You could get some cheap ones from Dotty P Tall here www.dorothyperkins.com/en/dpuk/category/clothing-203535/tall-clothing-203573/view-all-203865?noOfRefinements=1#pageSize=20&catalogId=33053&viewAllFlag=false&sort_field=Relevance&langId=-1&beginIndex=1&storeId=12552&parent_categoryId=208600&categoryId=208669&refinements=category~[212627|208669]^category~[1363034|212627]&noOfRefinements=3
Or maybe something from Hush? I usually look through their brochure and set about finding similar items cheaply, but you could splash out on something like this www.hush-uk.com/daywear/all/classic_silk_shirt_spice.htm

RandallFloyd · 28/05/2014 13:21

I like the idea of a silky type vest and I already have some indigo jeans so we may be getting somewhere!

I like this one a lot.

Sadly my budget is much more Dorothy Perkins than Hush Sad

Lioninthesun · 28/05/2014 13:23

Me too re budget Randall I just use it for inspiration (I have similar hair to the models and it makes it easier to see what would suit as they all seem a bit lanky like me Grin).
I makes a nice change when you go out and feel you have a 'special' top on Smile

Lioninthesun · 28/05/2014 13:29

If you have not much on top an empire line top may help 'accentuate the positives' Wink I can't find one just now though, so perhaps they are out of fashion thanks heaven they were 'IN' when I was pg!

RandallFloyd · 28/05/2014 13:43

Are they the ones that fit under your tits?

I do like those. I can't get away with the dresses because they accentuate my hips but the tops with decent fitting jeans are great.

I used to wear them all the time. Why had I forgotten about them completely?!

OP posts:
Lioninthesun · 28/05/2014 13:47

Yup, that'd be the jobby! Hope you can find one now I've suggested it Grin.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 28/05/2014 13:52

I'd kill for sticky out hip bones!

RandallFloyd · 28/05/2014 14:24

It sounds a lot better than it is, honestly.
I have sticky outy boney hips yet still have a muffin top.
Basically I have bones where there should be fat and fat where there should be bones!

OP posts:
Lioninthesun · 28/05/2014 14:30

I think we might be twins Grin
If you get your bras at M&S try debenhams instead - really boosted my confidence as well as my bra size (M&S had me at a 34/36 A/B but in debenhams I am a 30/32 D/DD!) Grin
Oh I know all of the tricks!

RandallFloyd · 28/05/2014 15:26

My main issue is my complete lack of arse.

Because I have no arse fat whatsoever to keep my jean up, they have to fit really snugly on my hips thus ensues a minging muffin top.

What I'd really like is so e boyfriend jeans so I can do the ankle turn up business but they look like clown pants on me.

OP posts:
Lioninthesun · 28/05/2014 15:31

Have you looked at Gap tall trousers? I think some of their straight or skinnies might work for you?
I do have a bum (far more so now I convince myself that eating DD's chocolate is saving her from a fate worse than death every evening Grin)

peasandlove · 28/05/2014 22:51

Can I suggest you buy a black blazer. They instantly dress up jeans or dresses for a smart casual look.

RandallFloyd · 29/05/2014 18:42

I used to have a nice blazer about 8/9 years ago, I loved it, wore it all the time.
I might still have it actually, it was too small for ages but it would fit again now so it may be hiding at the back of the wardrobe!

I'm guessing a plain one would be better now though wouldn't it.
Aren't they more lose-fitting now?

I wish eating chocolate gave me an arse I really do. I was a size 16 at one point and still completely lacking in rump Sad

OP posts:
peasandlove · 30/05/2014 07:08

yeah why dont you get a new one, you're not going to feel great rocking an old one :) You probably need to do some excercise to build arse muscles, squats, walking up stairs, all that sort of thing

RandallFloyd · 30/05/2014 21:58

Squats? Oh heavens, no.

I'll just buy a new blazer, that'll fix it Grin

OP posts:
peasandlove · 31/05/2014 00:53

haha sounds like a plan Grin update us with what you buy
