I did to someone a while ago. Yep, they are not exactly minimalist when it comes to make up.

Marylou2 · 27/05/2014 20:59

It's an addiction! If Sam and Nic love it,I want it too!

starshaker · 27/05/2014 21:06

I know. I must not spend any more money

Do you watch Lisa Eldridge too? Funnily enough Pixiwoo don't really inspire me to spend money, except on their makeup brushes, but I don't want to think about how much Lisa has made me spend!

daisydaisys · 28/05/2014 01:41

Yes! I agree about Lisa Eldridge too... She looks amazing! Xxz

BritabroadinAsia · 28/05/2014 01:50

I'm with Gatorade, love Lisa and her many looks. One of my favourites is her transformative Hangover make-up, although her 'before' face looks a darn sight better than mine and yy to spending too much money on gorgeous cosmetics!

Starshaker, love that lipstick - what is your colouring? I suspect it would look dreadful on my olive tones, but always good to hear what works for others...

I had a very minimal approach to makeup, till I discovered sona gasparian and teni, their colouring is similar to,mine,so naturally I copy them, they dont use many products, i was happy with my bronzer but had to buy the urban decay baked bronzer, because sona loves it, and she is right its fab,you can use it as a bronzer, eyeshadow, highlighter ,whatever!
She does fab no makeup makeup tutorial,

pixiwoo tutorials are very heavy ,not easy to wear daily, they used to do nice ones before,

Lisa knows her stuff, and has a more natural approach to makeup,

There is an Aussie girl who does great makeup too,and she doesn't use alot of stuff, she does use alot of Aussie brands though,it means I could never get them here, which is a good thing!

You can see, that I've became addicted to youtube tutorial Grin I'm too Blush to admit it to anyone IRL, though

I have to say I'm not a huge fan of the pixiwoo sisters much anymore. I started watching their tutorials yeas ago, and I do appreciate some of Sams artistic looks. However I always feel that they totally overdo it. Whilst sometimes what they do, looks ok on camera, I think whenever I have seen pictures or videos of them outwith their own studio lighting etc, they have looked a little drag queen like.
Nic is a really pretty girl, but I feel that she ruins nearly every look she does when she applies heavy lipstick. She doesn't have a face that can take heavy make-up like that, and it often instantly cheapens what could have been a nice look. Especially when she tries to make her lips look larger by applying liner outwith her natural lips.
Like many youtubers, they are now part of the Gleam PR machine and honestly so much of what they talk about is sent to them to mention, that I think they are walking talking adverts.
That's all fine and well, but just be aware of that when they are proclaiming how much they love a product, that they have no doubt been paid a large sum of money to mention it! Smile

Lisa Eldridge will always be my favourite make-up artist on youtube I think. So much classier than the pixiwoo sisters, and not as heavy handed.
There was some controversy a while ago about the pixiwoo sisters copying a lot of her looks a few days after her tutorials went up. I don't know if there was anything in that though. I think they did disable the comments for those videos though as they got such a backlash over it.

Hayley Thompson also does some lovely tutorials that aren't too over the top.

flippinada · 28/05/2014 18:55

jasmine1979 so agree and I know exactly what you mean about pixiwoos. I used to enjoy watching them but not any more, mainly for the reasons you mention. Plus the endless hawking of high end products - really offputting.

santa is the Aussie girl you mean Sharon Farrell? I look her looks, really creative and there's some really relatable about her.

Also love Sali Hughes and Lisa Eldridge. I could just listen to (and watch) both of them for hours!

flippinada · 28/05/2014 19:02

I love her looks is what I mean to say.

I better clarify that in case I give the wrong impression, I mean the looks she does with make up! Not that there's anything wrong with her looks.

shuts up before the hole gets any deeper

merlotguzzler · 28/05/2014 19:44

I think Lisa Eldridge is gorgeous! Almost too gorgeous, cos whenever I see a tutorial of hers, I know I'm not quite going to achieve the look that she has Envy Having said that, I think it's probably more likely to be a crush Grin

starshaker · 28/05/2014 20:17

OK that is me with just a little bit of make up on. I always feel like im caked because i really dont wear it often.

The dior shade is trench.

I would love to find somebody with my colouring but i dont actually have a clue lol.

Ok who recommended pixiwoo????

Ha ha merlot I have a bit of crush on the lovely Lisa too :).

That looks lovely star - not caked on at all, and the lipstick is a gorgeous colour.

You look as if you might be a bit pink toned (I'm not an expert though just an enthusiastic amateur so don't take my word for it).

You could try one of the colour matching sites - that's just for foundation though.

I have blue eyes too and think bronze/coppery eyeshadows look really good. Rimmel have a new rose gold shadow stick which is a beautiful coppery-gold, cheap as chips and stays on all day.

santamarianovella · 28/05/2014 20:39

flippinada the Aussie girl is Chloe morello,I have similar skin tone and hair colour but she dyed it now and I think its all wrong for her

I don't think you look caked starshaker

flippinada · 28/05/2014 20:53

A new person to check out then :)

SF isn't Australian now I think about it, she's Irish but moved out there. Worth checking out anyway.
