If you are blonde try touch of silver shampoo from boots or any other purple based shampoo

Ooops! Didn't state hair colour, did I?! I am brunette. Thank you for replying though. Smile

Horse I was going to post asking the exact same thing :) I'm brunette too and no matter what colour care shampoo I use the colour seems to fade very quickly, I've started to wonder if it isn't the shampoo, but the hair colour not being as strong and long lasting as it use to be Hmm I use Nice and Easy and it always used to be too dark for the first couple of days after I did it and now I don't seem to have that problem even though I use the same colour and leave it on the same amount of time.

I am using tigi oatmeal and honey at the mo. It is spenny but a little goes a long way and my colour is lasting well.

I like Tresemme shampoo for coloured hair.

I also find that Badedas and baby shampoo don't fade my hair. I do suspect that a lot of formulations to prolong coloured hair are a load of old bollocks.

Would you consider a dye tip? I used Naturtint natural dye from Holland & Barratt and it's still radiant 7 weeks later. And it's a red shade - for that not to fade is pretty impressive!

Horsemad · 27/05/2014 17:17

I also wonder if the dye is not lasting as long. It will be 3 weeks on Thurs since I had it done and the dreaded greys are already showing and colour has faded like it does usually.
I'm paying 50 every 3 weeks and it's not even lasting! Sooo frustrating.

Tresemme is one if the shampoos I use, along with John Frieda Brilliant Brunette or whatever it's called.

I really need to man up and do it myself then I could at least go a bit longer between appts.
I'm a big scaredy cat though! Will book holiday from work, so can get it fixed if it's a disaster! Grin

I like Wella Brilliance, and my hair is dyed red, which is the fadiest dye going!

I've just started using Dead Sea magic shampoo and conditioning mud from Amazon. Its sulphate free, I started using it from an itchy scalp but my hair is shiny and my colour looks far better than any other shampoo I've used. I'd recommend it.

frankietwospots · 27/05/2014 20:44

I've just discovered Redken Color Extend - brilliant stuff. I buy it from Look Fantastic.

Aussie colour mate - brilliant on my hair

ExcuseTypos · 27/05/2014 21:11

I've had the same problem. I have mine dyed at Aveda and it's lasting about 3 weeks before it looks very drab. I've tried Aveda shampoo but it really didn't make any difference. My hairdresser did say that as you get older your hair isn't as pourous so it doesn't hold on to colour as wellSad

LordEmsworth · 28/05/2014 05:59

I swear by Aveda Colour Conserve - shampoo and conditioner, daily leave-in conditioner after every wash, and deep treatment once or twice a week.

The Aveda lady says that the better condition your hair is in, the more it will hold the colour. I don't know if that's true, but I do think the Aveda works for me in prolonging my colour...

RoyCroppersOldBag · 28/05/2014 08:51

While we're "talking" about coloured hair shampoo is there such a thing as a volumising coloured hair shampoo ? now, I would pay good money for something like that :)

Excuse I'm 50 in a couple of weeks :( so that could be the problem with me (boo hoo)

babySophieRose · 28/05/2014 09:39

I never found such a shampoo, :) , your best choice should be a shampoo with a touch of colour.

ExcuseTypos · 28/05/2014 17:34

I'm 48 Roy, so I think it's my problem too. Aveda shampoo and treatments did nothing for me, I tried them for 6 months.

Mitchell2 · 28/05/2014 19:56

I use the purology hydrate range - its for colored hair and I find it doesnt fade it at all (I have an ombre thing going on so there is blonde and brunette). I think they do other types (volume, strength etc) its not cheap at all but I find it is the only thing works well for me.
