Next trousers - harem or tapered jersey

Thinking of trying a pair or two of the Next trousers people on here seem to like.

Could someone please tell me the difference between the 'harem trousers' and the 'tapered jersey trousers '. Is the cut very different, which do people prefer, which is less 'nappy like' at crotch, etc ?
TIA.

They are the same thing. They're described as "tapered jersey trousers" online but the sewn in label in the trousers says "hareems" (not sure about Next's spelling!)

PS get a pair....they're fab!

OH, they are the same thing - that explains it. They appear as two separate items online. Do you have a favourite print, or stick to plains?

I have what JCS describes, but the things online now are different i think

VivaLeBeaver · 24/05/2014 17:43

I have one of each. Styling wise I think they're very similar. The tapered jersey ones are a slightly thicker fabric and I think hang nicer.

JohnCusacksWife · 24/05/2014 18:35

Sorry...looks like they now also have trousers called harems online. Don't think they were there before! It's the tapered jersey trouser version I have - in black and in the blue/black/grey smudge print. Probably prefer the smudge print ones but they're both great to be honest. Flattering and unbelievably comfy.

Those who love these trousers- can you tell me what body shape you are please??

treaclesoda · 24/05/2014 20:04

I have a pair of these trousers. I tried them on with some friends and although one of them is overall slimmer than me, they actually suited me best out of all of us. I have slim toned muscley legs, very skinny ankles but carry weight around my middle, my stomach area is horrific. The trousers are baggy at the thighs and disguised my belly and stopped just above my ankles, so all good points emphasised. My pear shaped friend couldn't wear them at all, they made her thighs look bigger. My slim friend was somewhere in the middle - they weren't all that baggy around her thighs and made her look bigger than she actually is. It was amazing how different they looked on each of us, and very surprising to see that it wasn't necessarily the slimmest of us who suited them.

I've been avoiding this trend, as an apple with good legs the last thing I need is to make my bottom half look big too...but these Next tapered jersey trews are fantastic, the draping is really subtle and agree, very flattering on a less than perfect tummy

piratecat · 24/05/2014 20:13

i was going to try the Next ones thinking they would suddenly transform into these cool things on me! (have tried some in Sainbos and Peacocks, and i looks crap)
I see now that they will not ever suit me, as i am a pear, and although the waist nips in, the flare around my bum etc looks awful. My thighs are too heavy for them. I really like them but not on me sadly.

BornOfFrustration · 24/05/2014 20:15

I put one each of the black petite in my basket and the code numbers were the same so I think they're the same thing. I have the black and the blue ones with flowers on. I'm about 5 foot 2 and a size 10 to 12 ish with a belly and they hide my gut.

JohnCusacksWife · 24/05/2014 22:12

I'm 5'4", size 10-12, curvy hourglass type shape. I love the looser fit at the thigh contrasted with the tight ankles - very easy to wear. I think (hope!) they suit me!

Tiggywinklespinny · 25/05/2014 21:45

Can anyone provide a link for these trousers please? Thank you Smile

JohnCusacksWife · 25/05/2014 23:20
