Not a pashmina. Horrible things, they never sit right and take away from a nice dress. You could go for a fur shrug, or I've worn a short velvet cape for a winter wedding (hired this from dress hire shop). It depends in your dress of course. One year I was lucky enough to hit on a pretty dress from whistles and a coat to match, but wasnt too matchy iyswim?

I've got one in November and thinking of wearing slim leg brocade type trousers, black silky top and a jacket. And heels. I have everything except the trousers, but patterned trousers are still in so should be able to get hold of some in a few months.

Will wear a dress coat over a scarf and gloves if really cold.

my winter wedding outfit came from Monsoon. Its a velvet skirt - sort of timeless knee length and straight. then a soft mohair sort of jacket cardigan wrap which has a satin tie to it. Wear a silky top underneath ( for dancing). Its a darkish purple . Looks fab year after year weddings, baptisms etc.
Smart black coat and then bright scarf. Have worn boots ( bloody cold) to heels opaque to sheer tights.

My DB & SIL's wedding is the only winter one I've been to - I wore a Country Casuals bottle green trouser suit - very smart but very dated now - this was in 1999
