Stupid question re. knee high boots

Right I tried some next boots on but they wouldn't quite zip up because I've got fat calves lol. Do the wide fitting ones have wider legs on them or will boot shapers stretch them the little bit that I need?
Like I said probably a stupid question but I'm a bit thick on things like this. These will be the first pair of proper knee high boots I have bought, the only other pair I've bought were casual ones which stretched quite a bit. Thanks.

I can't fit into next or carvela but do fit ito clarks - odd! I think some companies actually do different sized calf fittings without having to go for a wider foot fitting - sorry I can't remember who - sure someone will be along who knows!

There is a company who do different width fitting boots - their shop is on Milsom St in Bath and I can see it, but can't place the name at all. I think they do mail order too. Hang on a minute, and I will see if I can find it...

other than that, I have the same problem, and tend to end up wearing the elasticated ones - LK Bennett do really nice suedy ones in different heels, or at least they did last year.

Saw a couple of pairs designed for "shapely calves" in Faith to day - very reasonable price, quitte smart/trendy but probably only one-season's wear out of them. More classic ones from Jones bootmaker who list their measurements for calf width on their website, differs with each pair, but some go up to 16".
